So here is my 2018 its 4/18 build date. trying to see of they updated, and when, the failing transfer cases.
That s the part # on my pic.
here is something I found only when looking up part.
  • Genuine:
  • SKU:95B-341-010-AX
  • Replaces:95B-341-010-X

but if you notice I have an A (No X).... Would be nice if we can identify new part to give some peace of mind to late build owners.

Looking at the PET, it shows the following transfer case part numbers. From looking up the part numbers it looks like the 95B-341-010-X is replaced by the 95B-341-010-AX, as you found. The 95B-341-010-A is it's own version. In the far right column is the option/model code. LU2 is Reinforced transfer box. So based on that info in the PET that's the main difference between two versions of part numbers. The part number 95B-341-010-X is the non reinforced transfer box. After that both parts numbers are the reinforced case (-A and -AX). Maybe there's two suppliers and that's why there's two different part numbers.

There are only 2 updated cases A and AX both are currently being sold and started to used 5/3/18. if you have the X case then it’s not updated. Might be best to ask your tech at the dealer that did the work.

Thanks. I wasn't clear. My case is the original. I was just wondering if it was the old or new version.

ok. I did forget the dates in in European format (DD/MM), so the old case was used until March 4th, 2018, the new case was used March 5th, 2018-on ward.
You said you had a 4/18 build so you would have the new case, and your picture shows you do.

I looked at my wife's, S and her 2017 has the -X case (older non updated).

Hi Guys - I am presently shopping for a '17 GTS for my wife. What is the transfer case issue that necessitated an update/replacement? Thanks for any info you can provide. Michael

High failure rate. Described to me as shuttering, binding. Failures reported with 10K, in some cases sooner. I haven t seen any Porsche information about what and why. Like to know what they changed myself just out of curiosity . Expensive repair FYI.

This really puzzles me. So having just had mine replaced in May they put in an "older non updated" ("AX") transfer case? Thank goodness I purchased certified preowned!

AX is the updated case. There's two version of the updated case. -A and -AX. Only the -X part number is the old case.

Our S hasn't had an issue, so it has the older case due to the original build date.

FWIW, Based on other Porsche parts and forum threads I believe P/N's that end in "X" are remanufactured.
