Default First time Macan buyer! Help me out!

I'm looking at this car tomorrow:

2015 Macan S

VIN: WP1AB2A51FLB43338

-Leather package in Black/Garnet Red
-Sport Tailpipes in Black
-Wheel Center Caps with Colored Porsche Crest
-SportDesign Side Mirrors
-Side Blades in Exterior Color
Roof Lining in Alcantara
-ParkAssist (Front and Rear) with Reversing camera Tinted LED Taillights
-3-zone Climate control
-Leather Interior Package
-19" Porsche Turbo Wheels
-Preparation Two-Tone Interior w/ Seat Ventilation
-Adaptive Sport Seats (18-way) with Memory Package
-Infotainment Package
-Premium Package Plus
-Window Trim in Black (High-Gloss)
-Sport Chrono Package i.c.w. PCM
-Ornamental Porsche Crest

28k miles, 0 accidents, says never had an issue with it. He's asking 40k

What is a fair price for this vehicle?

Is 2015 year ok? Or should I be looking at 2016/2017. My budget is around 45k tops.

Any help would be highly appreciated. Thank you

Sounds like a nice build and a very fair asking price. Nothing wrong with the 2015 models. There are a few updates with the newer models of course, but nothing earth shattering. The largest difference is probably the new PCM 4.0 with the 2017 + models which gives you the ability to have Apple CarPlay (optional).

With the 2015 (and other Macans), a couple of the trouble spots can be the transfer case and slight oil leak with the timing cover at the front of the engine. Both of these can result in expensive repairs, so I’d recommend a thorough PPI at a Porsche dealer or an independent Porsche specialist. Neither of these issues should scare you off though, many are fine and never experience the issues. Just a couple things to be aware of.

Best of luck with your quest!

If i buy an extended warranty would those issues be covered? Do you think its fair for me to haggle him down? I was going to offer 35k

I concur w/CarGuyNVA. You should ask for the service records and ensure that all service actions/recalls were performed. Like any vehicle out of warranty, you take your chances but, if it checks out, you should have a very nice vehicle at a reasonable price. Let us know how it goes.

He has all the service records done at a Porsche dealer. Nothing was ever done aside from oil change and new tires. No accidents, no repairs. Car is still under warranty till January 2020

FWIW, it's the timing chain cover(s) at the front of the engine. It appears that some engines have a single, Y-shaped cover, while
others have three covers, one for each 'leg' of the Y - \, / and |.

Not simply timing cover - whatever that would be...

Good luck - sounds like a nice build - and you're covered until some time in 2020.

Be sure to have the PPI thoroughly check the front area of the engine for any oil seepage, indicating the timing chain cover has already
started leaking.

I think we're all well aware of what that means in the context of the discussion here.

Anyone have pics of the example of the two chain covers?

Hey all, quick update. Ended up getting the car. He had nearly ever conceivable option on it and it was in amazing shape. MSRP was near 80 from sticker window he saved.

28k miles, and still has 4 months of factory warranty left. I got him down to 36,500. I do well?
