Default Crazing headlamps, cracked door handles & hazing chrome trim replaced under warranty

I recently purchased my across the street neighbor's 2017 Macan GTS which lived outside its entire life and still does with me. Since the Macan is still under warranty, I took it to my local dealership to see if it would replace my crazed headlamps, both passenger door handles that were just starting to crack and all the chrome window trim that was hazing/discoloring. The dealership took care of all these issues. No questions asked.

Yeah that sounds like pretty excessive wear for two years, even outdoors. Are you located in the desert southwest or someplace like that by chance?

I'm in Florida. Now when I see other Macans, I give them a good look. What I mostly see are cracked door handles but only on the passenger side.

Bought mine from someone in Miami, 2015 with 60k miles on it. Door handles are fine. I do have headlight crazing. I think the cracking door handles was due to a manufacturing defect, they have a revised part now. My hypothesis on the crazing is that it's not really noticeable and I bet a lot of Macans have it, people just don't notice. It looks to be purely cosmetic anyway.

So what exactly is "headlight crazing"? Is it the dulling/yellowing you see on some acrylic headlight lenses, or something different?

These really small spiderweb like cracks in the headlight lens. Usually starts around the headlight spray nozzles and expands from there.

We just bought a 2016 turbo with 18k miles and it had the crazing on the PDLS headlights. Its currently at the dealership being replaced under warranty.

Appreciate the thread, OP. The entire chrome window trim around my '17 Macan S has also discolored/hazed. Good to know. I was disappointed to see this, so early on...
I've tried numerous chrome/polishes to clean the chrome window trim with negative results...

Cheers/B

That's pretty typical from Porsche now a days. You don't become the most profitable car company in the world by making a quality product.

I inspected both closely this weekend after cleaning it up and I see no signs of it. I'll keep an eye on it from time to time now that I'm aware.

My car was under the factory warranty when these items were addressed. I don't know if it would be covered under a CPO. Call your dealership and find out. No harm in asking.

Hello. I recently purchased a CPO Macan S myself this past week. I did bring up the oxidized trim at the time of delivery (uniformly all over), it's refreshing to hear that this is covered under the original B2B warranty. After further review I have a patch of etching the size of quarter on the passenger headlight, also. So besides the doorhandles, timing chain oil leak and transfer case are there any other issues that have become known areas of concern? This is great forum. Thanks in advance for any input you may have.
