Default '16 Macan S or new 19 Macan

Well the plan was to order a '19 Macan for wifey and trade the 5 year old Q5.... was at the dealer and test drove a '16 S with low miles.. and way below the base Macan price.
now im confused..haha..... the 4 cylinder is enouhg power for her but i think for low 40s the 16 S is heck of a car.... hmmm still deciding...
what would you do ? for history wifey already had 3 Cayenne turbos back in the days and a POS X5 50i...lol!!!

That's a tough one to answer. For me, personally, the base engine is plenty. On public roads, is there anything that the S can do that the base model can't? Are you ever taking this car out on the track? Also, the gas mileage is just so much better with the turbo four. That said, if you're a family of 911 turbos and Cayenne turbos, you're likely to be disappointed by the base engine.
I plan to drive my current BMW X1 (300hp/300lb-ft "twin-scroll" turbo inline six cylinder) for another couple of years and then find a nice, low-mileage used Macan (base). I drove a friend's Macan from San Francisco to Seattle last spring and it's just such a pleasure to drive. Good luck!

Sounds like you and your wife are enthusiasts. If the S is in great shape, CPO’ed, and priced right, I’d vote S.

The horrible tail lights on the 2019 would direct me towards a 2016 model. The tail lights on the first Macans are what caught my attention and part of what made me lust the design as I was trying to find love for a Cayenne.

Bought a new 18S for my wife last Christmas to replace her 8 year old MBZ that she loved....after a year in the Macan S she will never drive anything but a Porsche. Brought the 18 in for the free oil service and received a loaner base 18 Macan for the day. Her impression was simple, why is this Macan so slow? She’s not a gear head by any terms, but she notice enough difference to make the statement.

Go with a nice CPO S and spend the rest on some 911 mods!

Invest $380 in a JB4 piggyback from Burgertuning for the base 2.0T....night and day, and feels quicker than a std S

Won’t pass smog in CA. There are plenty of the same options (also not legal) for the S as well to get to close to the Turbo numbers....but this is for my wife and the 3500 miles per year she drives.

ok its done..lol! thanks guys!! also bought fidelity warranty for 5 years.... wifey loves it , already driving it around shopping all day..lol!
dark blue metallic with beige... only thing i dont like is the aftermarket wheels at least its not hideous... probably buy the sport classic or go small
car doesnt have pasm, but to my surprised it rides really good... lots of experience with Cayennes in the past with 20 22 inch wheels...i never go past 20 without pasm..

Good choice! I had my '16 Macan S in for its 40k service recently and was really impressed with the 4 cyl loaner.
That is, impressed that it was comparable accelerating up to about 50 mph in traffic, but seriously slower and more noisy beyond that.

Congrats. On the Macan, PASM is what really helps it handle like no SUV should but it will ride just fine without it. Kind of the opposite of how PASM affects a 911 or Cayman. 2015's apparently had some transfer case issues and oil leaks from the cam covers. If you experience jerky shifting or shuddering, then have the dealer investigate the transfer case. The oil leaks require removal of the engine under tray to look for oil there or oil around the pan. The under tray can easily mask a quart of oil leaked before you see any on the ground. Don't assume a dealer paid attention to that.
