Clear front side markers

I understand the for US market only front orange side markers but don’t understand why the aftermarket hasn’t produced a clear lense with amber /orange bulb lighting akin to almost every other Porsche variant out there. Group buy if somebody would manufacture a quality product seems realistic?

I'd buy a set.

rasetsu 11-22-2018 02:14 PM

I'd be in for a set as well.

I think only the US market cars have them. I want an LED solution which looks like the LED side markers on the Cayenne and 911.

These side markers lees look both cheap and an afterthought.

If someone made a set of OEM looking LED ones I’d buy them in a heartbeat.

Some smart guy with 3D printer experience could probably whip out a set.

Clear side markers

not smart, no 3D printer, but considering the potential market, would be happy to contribute to initial development costs

I brought mine to a tint shop and tinted them dark. Although my car is black (so it blends very well) I can't imagine it looking worse than the amber on every other color - especially with all the existing black trim parts.

I did the dark smoke tint from Suncoast as it matches the Mahogony Metallic well.

+1

These are a very inexpensive option to try. I got a set on a whim (I threw them in with an order I was already placing). They are simple to install and take care of the problem (admittedly making them darker, not clear. But at least they're not ORANGE any more. Give 'em a try, very low risk project.

On my BMW, had them painted body color. Would be interested in a set of tinted ones to replace the ugly orange.

I would buy a set, they should be clear when off but amber when lit. LED is preferred.

stealthboy 01-30-2019 02:59 PM

I just put a tint film on them because I disliked the orange so much.

Mine is black as well, and I did the smoke tint film myself on both the orange side markers as well as the third brake light in the rear spoiler. The third brake light still lights up just fine, but when it's not on it gives the spoiler a much cleaner, uninterrupted look IMO.
I used to have a 991 where I replaced the side markers for clears so I'm very much in this camp and hear you! Bought them at Suncoast at the time - maybe someone can call them and ask if they know or will locate them as they are good with sourcing and selling certain aftermarket parts too.

If someone were selling clear side markers for Macan's we would all know about it. No one to date is offering them - probably doesn't help the market demand that only North America Macan's have side markers - the ROW doesn't have them. Like you, I tinted mine with LaminX - I'm satisfied with that look.

I understand that the painted versions are backlit at night with the lights turned on. Has anyone experienced issues with the paint itself maybe peeling or bubbling? But $200 for a set of the painted ones ???
