Default Fair price for 2017 Macan GTS

Hi,

I am looking at purchasing a used 2017 Macan GTS from a local Range Rover dealer and I wanted to hear some opinions on what it is worth and anything I should look out for. I've attached the build sheet below and it also has Vorsteiner 21" rims on it. Other than that the car is beautiful and has 24k miles on it. The car originally hit the road in June of 2016 so basically 2 1/2 years old and only has 1 1/2 years left of warranty vs. some other 2017s have 3 years left. The car brand new was $86k and they're asking $65k for it now. I think that seems a little high as I've seen some 2017s out there with 12k miles for around the same price. I'm thinking the car is worth somewhere in the high 50s. Does anyone else agree? The car is a single owner and all the upgrades imaginable and beautiful vorsteiner rims but I don't want to pay a lot extra just for those rims. Any help would be greatly appreciated and any words of advice when looking at used Macan GTSs would also be great!

For what it's worth, I recently (6 months ago) paid $66k for a '17 GTS, Carrera White with an MSRP of $86k with about 21k miles on it. I think I may have slightly over-paid by $2k based on what I've seen come available.

Having said that, this car was spec'd how I wanted a GTS. This car you are looking at is also uniquely spec'd - it's rare to find the GTS with the cooled seats and LED's & CarPlay for example. If these are important to you, you may want to chase after it a little harder.

As for the price, I think it's probably worth somewhere in the low-mid $60's, but that is just based on what I paid for mine, and what I've seen others pay for comparably MSRP'd GTS' since I bought mine. I had considered selling mine on consignment and it now has ~26k miles. The consignment place was going to list mine for $64,500 (I've decided to keep the car, so no sale!)

I’d say mid $60k range would be about right, non-CPO. I’d also want the OEM wheels. Looks like a nice build!

These cars sell above 60 all day due to high residuals from Porsche.

Curious, how does the residual affect the resale value? I always thought it was the other way around. I mean, a manufacturer can't just set the resale value of their cars by putting a high residual on them.

They seem to hold value relatively well. Mine isn't for sale but if you want a white one let me know lol. I have been contemplating a E63

Thanks, everyone for the feedback! Greatly appreciate it! Ideally, I'm looking to spend in the high 50s and most likely will make the purchase in late January if either the ones above are still available I'll definitely let you know!

Does anyone have a rough number as to how much it would be to re-certify it once the 4-year warranty expires?

Best,
David

With all due respect, best of luck finding a GTS in the $50k range that's driveable!

Keep in mind that certification via Porsche CPO can only be done by an authorized Porsche dealer (or if you purchase an existing CPO vehicle from a private seller, it can be transferred to you). Cost to do so is roughly $3-4k according to my dealer. A decent 2017 CPO Macan GTS with average miles will run you well over your target of the upper $50k range. Expect as much as $7-10k higher than that currently.

Good luck in your quest.

Also I don't think Porsche does CPO after the warranty expires. Once the warranty expires, CPO or any extended warranty directly from Porsche is off the table.

Porsche can CPO a vehicle if the warranty has expired and add the 2 year warranty if it passes inspection.

The ship has pretty much sailed on bargain hunting for a GTS with options you desire since there will be no GTS for 2019 MY and no word if there will even be one for the 2020 MY yet so the market for used ones is pretty hot right now. If you find one in the color you like and options you want, don't hand wring too long over it.

That's how Porsche always does their GTS trims on each generation of their models. t'll be back eventually.

No, it'll return to the lineup eventually, but it probably won't be until the 2020 model year at the earliest. Look at the Panamera for instance, the GTS model just returned to that lineup since the Panamera was last updated.

What was being pointed out is that the current '17-'18 Macan GTSs will likely hold their value in an above average fashion until the next iteration is released.
