Default It’s official, I am hooked. New 18 Macan GTS

So I bought a 997 4 GTS Cabriolet about 5 months ago I quickly fell in love with. Ever since that first weekend drive I knew my daily driver 2018 Lincoln Navigator was not going to work. Just being honest, I was miserable on my daily commute and needed to make a change as they say in Game of thrones, winter is coming. I am officially a Porsche only guy from here on out!

To say I am happy with my 2018 Macan GTS is an understatement. It is the closest I can come to driving my 911 as a daily driver and I couldn’t be happier. Test drove a 2016 Cayenne Turbo and the 2019 Cayenne bass and both felt much more less 911esq.

Thinking about flashing it after 2k miles for the extra horsepower/torque which I am told will make it close to Turbo fast sounds like a winner as well. Anyone have feedback on if this is worth it?

Again couldn’t be happier to be an official Porsche junkie! Consider me hooked...

Everyone who's done the Cobb Accessport flash have stated it's worth it. I am waiting for a few more warranty miles before I do it myself. I have a Subaru that is Cobb tuned and it was most definitely worth it. Cobb is one of the few companies that offers a portable device with ongoing technical R&D support that you could flash maps onto the computer and then completely uninstall when selling or trading and people are able to recoup at least $900 of the $1300 spent on the Accessport within hours of listing them on the classifieds sections.

how many miles would you wait prior to Cobb?

The prudent mileage is after power train warranty is up as if there happens to be an ECU issue while in warranty, Porsche may not cover the repair. Yes, you can flash back to stock, but if Porsche techs really want to look, they can find the flash counter and see.

But you technically could go straight from the dealer to adding a tune so long as you follow the break in recommendations per the manual which may be harder to do with a tune.

The only downsides to the Accessport is possible warranty denial on ECU issues which aren't a known issue and upfront price of the device. Personally, I'd prefer to wait until after 30K miles just to make sure there are no bugs from the factory but may end up doing it at 20K. I flashed my STi at 40K miles and flashed my GTI at 30K miles.

If I do it throught the dealer, they claim that they would do it at 2k and guarantee no warranty issues. Thoughts?

$700 more. For the length of the factory warranty? Also, their "guarantee" would only be good for their particular dealer, if that. What if you move or they sell their dealership to another dealership chain? Porsche North America won't back it. $700 is a good chunk of change to me but I understand it might as well be only $70 to some people. If that's the case and it's worth the minimal peace of mind, then sure. Personally, I'd rather wait or just take the risk.

The Cobb AP transformed my S. I use the 91 octane tune. It works best if you leave the choice in Sport. Comfort, or normal, shifts up too quickly and puts you into 7th gear at it seems 25 MPH. Stay in Sport.

Written "guarantee" from the dealer - I doubt it.
