Default Macan S to Rennsport and Back

A friend flew in from Berkeley CA to Rockville MD and we went for a ride to Monterey and back:
- 6200 miles, ave speed 66mph, 24 mpg, 96 hrs total drive time, 1 flat (plug n patch in Gallup NM), 1 qt of oil burned.

A couple of highlights:
- Cruising at, lets just say north of 100, for extended periods on RT 50 ("Loneliest Highway in America) across Utah and Nevada, and overnighting at the very excellent ex Pony Express Station, Cold Springs Station in the middle of the desert.

.

- Having dinner with too many luminaries to mention, seated with Neel Jani, LeMans winner and demo driver to the 919 Evolution, which next day exceeded 185 on the straight at Laguna Seca, in somewhat misty conditions!

All in all amazing trip in amazing vehicle!!

what a great adventure. the longest road trip i've ever been on in a Macan was 12 hours. there were three adults, so we had to rotate back seat time to relieve the slight crampedness, but it's hard to think of a better road trip car. the additional cargo space isn't a massive amount, but it sure comes in handy!

Thanks for sharing! Looks like an awesome trip - glad that you didn't have too many issues.

PS.
I did the same trip 50 years ago in a 1300 cc VW Bug. Even went back to that same corner in Winslow Arizona, and that girl my lord in the flatbed ford didn't show up this team either.

But in the Macan S it was by comparison, "take it easy" all the way, There is no substitute for twin turbos in the mountains. And it ended with my hearing and back intact!

I'm a big cross-country driver myself, and I enjoy reading about trips like this. Would enjoy hearing some more details about the drive, and seeing some more pics.
I started a Panamera trip thread a month ago after my 7600-mile-roundtrip drive in a Panamera E-Hybrid with experiences and photos posted there.
I'm planning currently to add a 2019 Macan S to our stable sometime in the next year, so I'm especially interested in hearing how these small SUVs fare on long-distance trips;
did you have any problems, other than the flat tire? 24 mpg sounds good for lots of high-speed driving... How planted does the Macan feel at high speed?

Very cool, I did Dallas to Monterey and back. Majority of the way was Route 66. It was a blast.
