Default Wheel chair storage or options

My mom is disabled with both legs(she manages thru walker on short stints but mall like jaunts a wheel chair is required). My Macan gts is coming soon and know collapsible wheel chair will fit in the back. Question even said wheel chairs are abit heavy and to put one inside trunk is a chore as I get older. Is there an easier way ie thru tow package ie hitch to load a wheel chair easily? Thanks in advance. Mike

There are electric wheel chair lifts that assist with getting the chair into the back of an SUV. They utilize the 2” receiver hitch as a mount.

Go to a medical supply store, and test one out as far as putting in the back with the rear seats folded down.

E-Trailer sells several ramp style carriers:

I'd also purchase a Canvas Back hatch liner and tailgate flap if I were you. I have one in my GTS, and it takes away much of the worry of scratching up the rear bumper when moving stuff in and out.

And secure the load in the trunk with a tie down, or two.
A load at speed in the back of your head? Will make a mess.

If you already have the wheelchair, go down to a bike store. Many stores have these hitch mount carriers set up to test bikes on. The carriers actually tilt down (to clear a rear hatch on a car) and you may be able to hook the wheelchair on to the arms, then swing it up to the vertical and locked position.

Better yet, this hitch is designed specifically for your needs.

Thank you. We'll look into that. Only reason is if I take my mom and our family to a roadtrip I want more space in the trunk for luggage and wheel chair outside. We got 3 small dogs(16 lb average each)/ daughter /wifey and my mom and me so need to maximize space. Thanks again. Mike

I have the Porsche cargo management system which gives you (among other things) the divider net you install to keep loads (or pets) from coming into the passenger compartment. I installed it once to see how it works and it’s quite slick and easy to use.

Yes, you will need a ball mount for a 2" x 2" receiver. The wheelchair carrier bolts to the ball mount. They come in different lengths, and different "drop" or "rise" measurements, depending on how you orient the ball mount. You can get the ball mounts at any auto supply store, along with a locking pin (so nobody steals your equipment).

Ordered hitch mounted for wheelchair. Many thanks again for recommendations. Today early morning car came delivered this morning(purchase order out of state(Texas to California) - more on that how awesome Porsche North Houston(sincere thanks to Mr. John Wright and Miss Maisa Khalaf) kudos to them ie seamless!!). Working day for me today so didn't have a chance to drive car other than moving to back of my garage and heading back to work). Got a day off tomorrow so will familiarize with car tomorrow. Few pics arriving to my home. Mike
