Under "features and specs" says 1650 max trailer weight, 10% on tongue. Same for all the ones I've seen on here.
That is from a local dealers website and is an error. Your really think a Macan would only have a tongue weight capacity of 165lbs and max towing of 1650? If you are so unsure just verify on the manufactures site or the owners manual.
Are any of you that are towing cars with your Macan using aftermarket hitches. My Macan Turbo came with no hitch. I had one Porsche certified mechanic say he refuses to install anything but the OEM Porsche hitch on the car. Another Porsche mechanic said he has an aftermarket Curt hitch on his personal vehicle, has no issues towing his boat, and no qualms with installing an aftermarket hitch. He recommends a Kurt hitch that is 1/10th the cost of the $1100 OEM Porsche hitch.
Sometimes it's hard to make an informed decision when you're getting directly contradictory feedback. Just wondering if any of you guys towing heavy loads like cars are using aftermarket hitches.
any more real world towing experience with a Macan? Looking to tow a trailer and a GT3 about 3-4 times a year. Trailer and car come in about 4200 pounds.
Really don’t want a cayenne. Like the compactness of a Macan.

I tow a roughly 2000lb trailer for kart racing a couple of times a month and the Macan S does fine. Not sure I’d want to tow anything much heavier though, due the the 21” wheels, sticky tires... not the best tow setup I’m sure.

I used to tow my Z06 on a 20' Featherlite open trailer, and it worked really well. The only draw back was the smaller fuel tank and had to stop more often.

My 964 is the garage queen/weekend driver,I am too scared to put it into the wall to track it. I am considering a Miata track project, and looking to replace the family car X1 with something that could tow. Wife really prefers to stay smaller, so while I thought Cayenne, she really prefers the Macan.
Would the base turbo 4 be up to the task of pulling the car & trailer, or is that out of the question? Anyone have experience? It sounds like a dumb question when I read it but there is no need for the S or higher given its use.

If you are going to pull anything larger than a day sailer I'd go with the 'S' model.

Sorry to revive this, but am considering towing my cayman with a macan ... what distances were you towing? Do you still tow with your macan? Any new thoughts since then?
MrTofu, I just started towing with my 2015 Macan S this spring. My trailer is a Trailex CT-8045 (about 950 lbs) plus an ugly Miata track car (about 2400 lbs) is way under the Macan's 4,400-lb towing capacity. So far I've done two track weekend trips with no issues whatsoever (one was about a 3-hour round trip and the other about a 7-hour round trip).
Mine has the factory tow package, including pre-wiring for a brake controller. The biggest PITA was installing the brake controller - Not because it's difficult, but just because I had to spend a lot of time on forums, etc. figuring out how to do it. If you go that route, I did a detailed write-up on the installation on a forum somewhere that I can locate and send you a link.
Great posts on this thread. Is anyone on the site towing more than 2,000lbs on a regular basis with a Macan / PDK that has more than 100,000 miles on the vehicle? Thanks.
