So now I am resurrecting my own thread...

We sat on this for a while, considered some of the feedback we got from all the helpful rennlisters (e.g. we're going with 20" wheels), and finally we decided, well... YOLO and we added some more bling. Forget the no-frills idea. Hey, maybe this Macan will be one-of-a-kind (err, well, I guess lot of Porsches are one-of-a-kind - so many options!)

We're still uncertain on the color (Mahogany vs. Agate) and whether to paint PORSCHE on the back (and if so, is it in the body color or in black). The model designation delete is definite though because my wife wants to keep you guessing.

Anyway, our dealer had to swap some allocations to get us a build slot, and now the wait begins!

Tips on how to handle the anticipation are welcome - as well as any comments on the build.

Here's what we've ordered:

Nice build except, beside the vehicle itself, the most expensive option is the ceramic brake pkg. and, IMHO, one you really don't need...but, as I read, your wife wants them, therefore, she gets them.

You'd better look into the cost of a ceramic brake job. Did I read that new rotors are something like $8000 each? Perhaps they last forever on a street car. And no dust?

Yes... she wants them. It's that simple. I have them on my 991.2 and after our 4k mile road trip where she was behind the wheel for nearly half of the driving, she decided she wanted the same brakes. Of course, you can't fairly compare Macan braking vs. a 911, but they can't make it worse.

Frankly, this is one of the options we agonized over for the past few months. There's a recent thread on the 991 forums about how many miles you can expect to see on the PCCBs, and while they don't quite pay for themselves in longevity, it seems like people think we can easily expect many 10's of thousands of miles before that expensive brake job is necessary. She's not going to be driving on the track, so it's probably not an expense I'll see for several years.

Very similar to a build we're considering.

Based upon what you've written about your wife's desires I'm surprised that you didn't select 18-way sport seats.

Since 14-way or 18-way are a "free" option (LOL) on the Turbo/PP I assume you made a conscious choice.

But, if you didn't, you should have your wife test sit the 18-ways. They are much better at 'gripping' you when tossing the 95B around corners.

Naw, that's the per-axle cost (if you get your parts at good prices.) DIY PCCB job on all four would be about $18k all-in. (Weird feeling in the pit of my stomach as I write that.)

With the Macan, my fear is some bit of 'winter debris' taking a chip out of a disc thereby requiring replacement of an otherwise forever-good $4k disc.

She has 14-ways in her Macan S, and I've got the 18-ways in the 911. She hates the 18-ways (really - she doesn't like how they squeeze her even when the seat and back bolsters are wide open). I just don't get it, she's not very "wide". I personally prefer them over the 14-ways and would always choose 18-ways (or maybe the buckets someday).

They told me the new Macan was onboard the Pegasus Highway. You can use a site like www.vesselfinder.com to search a ship by name and get its current location - or at least the last time it was within radio range. I've been checking on the progress of the ship containing the new car for a few weeks now - across the Atlantic, Nova Scotia, Panama, California... It was moored at Benicia (near San Francisco) on the 26th of March. I got a call on Wednesday the 29th that my car was at the dealership. It wasn't orginally expected to arrive until May! I took delivery last night. I'll post some pics soon (otherwise, of course, it didn't happen).
