We have had customers from WRX/Sti and EVO 9 run RB iron brakes (under 18" wheels) in 24 hrs Thunderhill for years and they all survived w/o any brake issues.

The real challenge with CCM brake application is finding a compatible brake pad that can withstand the much higher braking temperature of CCM rotor can generate than iron, and deliver a consistent brake torque under the extreme heat stress which conventional semi-metallic pads fall short.

OE just kept CCM rotor size bigger (From 997's 380/350 to 991's 410/390 in 991 GT3) for the above reason, but still today most racers prefer to run 18" wheels for the racing tire availability and cost.

This is the reason we were called for to develop this complete CCM brake kit 380/380mm with RB 6/4 pistons caliper and sintered brake pads.

In this 18" wheels brake system not only our CCM rotors were designed to be fully compatible with factory Cup iron rotors, but iron replacement rotor sets for the cup cars will also be made available.

Both our CCM and iron rotors can fit Cup calipers and pads if you prefer, but you may want to try our complete system and judge yourself for the performance improvement.

Default Complete Carbon Ceramic Brake Kit

The kit was shipped last week. It took us 3 weeks (14 working days) to build the kit.

This kit can also be installed on 991 TurboS upright w/o any modification, however you must also switch to RB calipers (not compatible with stock red calipers in pad fitment), or stock PFC calipers.

This kit is equipped with RB sintered brake pads, the first and only full metallic brake pad exclusively made for CCM rotors.

Please note for 991 cup cars the rear upright is same as GT3/Turbos/GT4, but the front has 210mm spread (vs. 225mm)

Can RB make CCM rotor kits available to replace Cup iron rotors and fit under OE/PFC calipers and pads?

Yes. They can be designed and made for a bolt on installation but for the rear you will have to widen the pad retaining plate by about 2.5mm (to 37mm for 34mm rotor thickness)

Front set up - No modification required - 380x34 CCM rotors with 150x56mm depth OE pad

Rear set up - 380x34mm CCM rotors with 106x48mm depth OE pad

Modification required for the rear caliper to fit thicker CCM rotor (34mm vs. OE 30mm). Recommended minimum width: 37mm

Substantial weight saving and future low cost disc replacement (same as ZR1 rear CCM) is the value of this kit.

Since this is only a rotor kit replacing OE iron rotors, so customer is to assume their own responsibility in settling for a compatible brake pads.

Weight comparison:

OE cup front rotor 380x32mm Wt: 20 lbs
OE cup rear rotor 380x30mm Wt: 17 lbs
Total 4 iron rotors: 74 lbs

RB CCM replacement rotors (2mm and 4 mm thicker than OE)
Both front and rear 380x34, Wt: 11 lbs
Total 4 rotors 44 lbs

Total weight saving: 30 lbs (40.5%)

An in-depth review of this set up was just posted by David Donohue.

RB-CCB Brake for 991 Cup are up on web for purchase:
http://www.racingbrake.com/category-s/7477.htm

Replacing OE's iron to RB-CCB rotors (retain OE caliper and pads):
http://www.racingbrake.com/RB-CCM-Up...por-crk-06.htm
This is a more cost effective upgrade but required modification on rear caliper pad sliding plate for 34mm rotors, and limited choice on pads.

Replacing complete OE to RB-CCB system:
http://www.racingbrake.com/RB-CCM-Up...por-crk-06.htm
This kit cost more but is built for an 100% bolt on installation, with lots of choice on brake pad compounds (including RB sintered)

Both kits offer the low cost in maintenance & replacement which in the long run could even be lower than iron set up due to CCM rotors' superior thermal capability offers never warp/crack, and never wear (keep them under temperature threshold). And if you ever need to replace the discs just purchase from GM (dealer or online) costing ~$1,300/ea.

Also all four corners are designed to use the same disc (380x34mm), so they are complete interchangeable. Better yet is the front and rear rotors have the same offset, so you can rotate the rotor just like tires.

These RB-CCB kits are the same as we built for David Donohue for his 991 Turbo S that he recently raced on Pikes Peak.

See this in-depth review on how this exceptional RB-CCB brake system performed and what you can expect written by David Donohue, the most well known and experienced Professional racer for Porsche.

Shipping a complete RB CCM kit with sintered dedicated track pads (XC-40) to Australia:

All 4 rotors are identical in dimension (380x34mm) and weight (11.5 lbs/ea) vs. OE's iron rotors:

Front: 380x32mm; 20 lbs

Rear: 380x30mm; 16.5 lbs

Total weight saving: 27 lbs (73 lbs vs. 46 lbs)

RB sintered pads for Cup OE calipers were modified from ZR1/Z28 pads.
