996 Cup ABS system ready to install into a 997 Cup
 

I have a 996 Cup ABS system which comes with everything needed to install into a 997 Cup. We have done this installation 5 times for customers on 997.1 cup cars, so we know it works well.

You will receive the ABS unit, brake lines, mounting bracket, plugs for the master cylinder, and the wiring harness.

Other than installation, the biggest thing you will need is to change the sensor type on the Motec dash.

$6500 plus shipping for this system.

How do you compare to bosch or teves?

I would say yes, but with comment.

The 996 cup car system is a stand alone system. It works without input from the car's ECU.

The 996 system is a very solid system with no issues like the ice mode or any other issues that plague the street car based systems. I have a customer here with both the Bosch system and the 996 cup system mounted to two different 997 cup cars. He can not tell the difference between the two. Both just work the way that he would expect a race ABS system to. The biggest difference is that the 996 ABS has one program mapping while the Teves and Bosch M4 have multiple. That said, he never changes maps. Not even for the rain.

The only part of the car that the system needs is the input from the wheel speed sensors. On the 997 Cup the Motec dash uses the information from the wheel speed sensors to provide speed. The 996 Cup system has inputs and outputs at each wheel so the wheel speed sensor plugs into one side and the car plugs into the other. Then, the sensor type in the Motec dash needs to be changed from hall to magnetic (or vice versa, I would have to look) and everything is back to normal.

For the 987, there are two things, the part number for the wheel speed sensor is different. It is 997.606.407.01 while the cup cars through 2013 used sensor 996.606.406.00. My suspicion is that they are the same sized sensors and the 996 sensor would fit and operate in the 987. However, I do not have experience with that.

The second thing would be getting the signal back into the 987. Again, completely unknown to me. Maybe it would just work. Maybe it would need a signal converter. It also depends on what you need the speed signal for. If you are using an aftermarket dash and not using the factory speed, then it might be cake. But, if you have PDK, then it would probably be vital for wheel speed signal.

I'm running the 996 Cup ABS. If I remember correctly, the 996Cup abs communicates with the dash via K-line instead of CAN bus like on the street cars. As a result you will lose your speedometer and odometer info on your dash. This will also result in a permanent ABS or brake failure light on your dash. It's not a big deal if using a standalone dash like Motec.

I should also mention that I have just the unit, not the whole system as well, so if you just want the 996 abs unit I have one of those too.
