Default What gear ratios are availabe for 997 Cup car?

Anyone knows, or have documentaion showing what gear ratios for each gear that are (or where) available from Porsche for the 05-12 cup cars?

Also interested in knowing what gears they came with from factory (including any changes that eventually were made during the years).

Thanks.

Don't buy any of those 08-09 part numbers ever. Those are the skinny skinny gears. Stick yo 2010 width or newer. 2010 is fine but 2012 is even wider.

Hadn't thought of that when I copy and pasted, edited post to hopefully prevent steering someone to a less than ideal situation.

Not sure they are even readily available anymore but every once in a while I get a call from someone who hasn't updated which floors me since those 3rd gears rarely survive more then 20-25 hours.

Good piece of info, thanks!

I assume Porsche made other ratios as well, anyone have documentation of that?

The 997.2 RSR got a new gearbox manufactured by ****. When that came out demand for alternative ratios dropped way off because almost everyone was running GT3 Cup/Carrera Cup with the sealed gearbox and spec ratios. All the Grand Am and ALMS cars got converted over to the new gearbox if the car was competitive and with a well funded program. Stock as delivered became the flavor of the day.

What is the underlying reason for the request? If I had a bit more information I might be able to offer more help.

Hi Matt,

What do you think about the weakness of the 3rd gear in Cup S ratio ? (19:34) Is it better than the standard cup ?

Thanks in advance,

Cedric

The Cup S is still the Holinger gearbox? If so it's no stronger. How weak the 3rds are is determined by the shaft centers and how small one must manufacture the idler gear. The 2012 wide gears are marginally stronger because of the added width but they aren't any thicker.
