Video: Drive shaft failure + Shift cables
Yesterday's race ended in the gravel :-( Quick analysis:
You can see that i first loose traction, and then, while trying to put gear in neutral, the cables come loose ? Lifting car showed broken left drive shaft.
Shaft broke just out of the gearbox side, on the metal, diagonally as sharp like a knife. Will post pics later when shop has taken off the shafts.
Cables were just replaced and planned to do the shafts after this race and had a new set laying in trailer. Luckily nothing else happened. Can cause a serious accident a high speed.
> removed video clip. Can now be seen in race video in different thread.
Anybody had similar combination of those 2 issues at once or is this just a super coincidence ?
Thanks

Loose cables caused a missed up-shift from 3rd to 2nd (instead of 4th) and the reverse load broke the axle? Its hard to tell in the video but looks like the shifter is in 2nd gear after the shift. The engine didn't sound like it revved after the shift though but its hard to tell.

Entered in 3rd, and would stay in 3rd and upshift after turn.
Had to look 20 times but i think i loose traction before loosing the cable.
It's a fraction, but that was the reason for disengaging where i'd normally stay in 3rd all the way.

Sorry for your race but that's one of the better outcomes from a shaft failure... roughly how many hours on those, you reckon?
