POC runs a power to weight ratio in their GT Classes so most 997.1 and 2 fall into the GT2 class which is a fun class in POC....

best for the area is to buy a 997.2 cup the cups are more a socal thing and almost non existant in norcal club racing.
you can run in POC, PCA and Pirelli Cup with a stock 997.2 between those groups you can find a race weekend almost 12 moths of the year.

Thanks! I am still considering spec911 vs. PRC GTL vs. cup club racing. Apples and oranges, I know. I want to have friendly fun, not partswap. I am leaning towards a cup rather than a Frankenspec, but the tires are soooooo expensivo. I don't know what the big deal is about the seq tranny refresh when you compare numbers for slicks vs. Toyos! It's the slicks that smell like burning hundred dollar bills, not the dogbox!

If you go through a few sets of slicks in a weekend, that is half a tranny refresh for a 7.2 cup! If you have KMP/pneumo-shifters, the life on the tranny should be prolonged a bit and the money shifts and overrevs minimized, I would think.
