Default For Sale: GMG 997 GT2 Turbo Cup Car

I am (regrettably) selling this car and thought that a RLister would be a perfect potential buyer as it's been documented on this site for a while.

The car uses a 2004 996 Cup Chassis with a 2001 Cup VIN as this was my first PWC Cup car that I bought from Michael Culver back in 2005, which I raced in . We re-tubbed the car and started from ground zero and decided to build the ultimate race car using PMNA factory parts throughout the project. The goal was to create a very capable race car that could run with the best of them and originally it was built using PWC specs and then we turned it loose with more upgrades.

We have raced the car 5 times with tremendous results.
Laguna POC 5/14: 1:26.2 pole w/ 2 overall wins
Rd America: 9/14: 2:08.2 pole w/ 2 overall wins
Daytona HSR: 11/14: 1:45.2 pole w/ class win

Car was built with the best in mind:
Porsche 3.6 Twin Turbo motor with GMG intercoolers, header system and exhaust tuned with different maps from 550hp to over 700hp.
2010+ 997 Cup Subframes, uprights, suspension
4 way Moton Shocks
GMG PWC Bladed Sway Bar setup front and rear
Motorsport ABS
6-Sp 996 GT3R upgraded Copans gearbox
Tilton Upgraded Clutch System
Stoptech PWC Spec Braking System - spec'd for Turbo weight distribution
Full Motec Dash with Data System

Again, this car was built from the ground up / bare chassis so we re-tubbed the rear of the car to accept the big RSR tire as we run the 325/705/18 rear Pirelli and it's perfect for the car. We also run the 305/645/18 front which balances out perfectly. The front of the car is Cup S carbon bodywork with a Turbo front nose........carbon hood, fenders as well as a carbon roof.
Car weighs 2790lbs empty........amazing!

Again, this car only has 5 race events on it from a complete build up. I have pics that show the build from a bare chassis and then you can see the final product in the pics below.

Again, it's too bad I have to sell the car but new business opportunities await and I just hope this car goes to someone who can really appreciate what it is.

Price: $205K with a 2nd set of wheels and spare front bodywork

Please email me if you would like more info at James@gmgracing.com
Serious inquiries only please.

Rickard,

We are very familiar with the Pirelli tire and we like it a lot......I think you can't go wrong with either brand.

Crazy fast! James pulled a huge gap on some very quick cars at the Road America race.

I've got to think that the engine is relatively unstressed if it's making around 650. I've known air-cooled turbo engines that made that much and more. If that's the case, reliability and engine life should be pretty good.

Would if I could....

that thing is the weapon of choice for folks like batman, superman, spiderman, etc. what a beast! probably costs real money 2 1/2 times asking price to put it together and get it to its current state. fun stuff.

/\ your probably right on the money, I started adding up what we spent building my mere mortal Cup S at the same time James was building this and your right, you would spend double the asking price to reproduce..

By the way, this thing RAN, not walked away from me on the straight at Laguna with my 3.8. James smoked the entire POC field at Laguna including several 4.?'s.

This thing explodes out of the corner, fly's down the straights and is on rails in the corner.

Oh how I would love to go toy with the field at Laguna at the upcoming Rensport with this beast!

Someone is going to get an incredible car at an incredible price.

Thanks for the kind words guys...........I have passed them along to the two techs who built this car from a bare chassis......they deserve all the credit!

Regarding the engine specs, here is a list of the components we used:
-Stock crank
-Carrilo Rods
-GMG Spec Mahle Motorsport custom pistons with .5 less compression than stock.
-Custom valves
-Custom billet cams
-Upgrade valve springs
-Ti retainers
-Stock turbo heads but modified to work with solid tappets
-GT3 Cup Oil pump
-TIAL Turbos
-GMG Headers and straight exhaust

Engine revs to 8750rpms.........with power and torque from 4000rpm and up.....simply pulls in every gear!

To further Jame's response, here is a quick snapshot of the engine when we built in at our shop earlier this year.
