Ahh Thanks for the link! How much weight savings will one expect going with carbon vs std. fiberglass shell ? Is it worth the $2400 cost vs $900 for the standard seat HTE seat ?

It depends of what you are after: Pro racing or Sunday club racing.

In the second case : Just go on a diet or have a pee before driving.

I've decided to stick with getting a new OMP HTE Carbon same as the OEM seat. The car is going through an extensive refresh with many suspension components, axles, etc. being replaced so a big enough winter bill already. If the price drops on the new Recaro in the future I'll have a look at it then, tough to justify the $10k for my level of club racing.

5-6 pounds. Cheaper to go on a diet

CF seat is a little stiffer FWIW.

I keep hearing this opinion, but does anyone actually have any evidence of failure leading to, or as a result of, an incident? I'm skeptical.

I have tried out so many seats I can't remember them all. Best fit, most comfortable for me is Recaro Pro Racer Hans.

Here here Rich. I fit kind of OK except for the rib cage.

On my other car i have the " wide" version of the Recaro HANS. Have you looked into that one?

Cant you swap the seat from the 993?

FWIW, I have the Recaro Pro Racer HANS XL installed in my Cup. I'm too damn wide to fit comfortably in the "normal" seat!
