No affiliation…..seems like a lot of money/time to create a frankenstein of a car:

Yes, and yes. That's probably what you need to spend to be competitive in Grand-Am GT...

Wonder what that thing weighs with all that CF... Couldn't imagine what a trip across the kitty litter would cost...

its a rolex cup. i can pretty much guarantee that every single one of those rolex cups has 400 to 500k in it, no doubt.
base car of 200,220.
they almost all then have pankl axles (17/pair); big brake kits, carbon body work. RSR suspenion, all teh motec updates, all the race radiators and race tweaks. the RSR gearbox is a huge money item, i believe they are near 100 new..lets the car be lower to the ground so you're not distorting axles when you drop the car as low as thye like, plus its lighter than a stock cup box. and the 4 liter.
that park place rolex cup is a super nice beast. and patrick is a super dude.
unfortunately, u just struggle to see how he's goign to get that money, because with the new GT America on its way, and the GT3R being homologated in world challenge, not sure what pro venue it would run within.

thus, its relegated to being a club/scca/pca monster. adn there, one could have bought JoeyKid's ex-TRG Role car, 4 liter, WITH abs and paddles for 4/10ths the price; or gordon friedman has a very nice albeit slightly older cup for same low attractive money. my rolex cup.

its a car you buy for 220 from pmna, you plunk 150 to 200 easy into it, let alone the tweaks updates development testing having patrick long tell you how to setup the car...and when you're done, you just resign youreself to gettting absolutely punished.

thats pro racing.

Yup. Thats a Rolex grand am up car.
Retarded money to be competitive. All RSR nic nacks and tricks of the trade.
Cost is double of a stock Cup car.
Take a Cup, haul everything off and start over with RSR stuff.

Uber geek stuff. Love em'

thats his car too. 72# and 73# i beliee one is like 325k asking, other is like 280k asking.
i blieve NGT is asking like 325 for their rolex cup.
id imagine that magnus will be selling their cup; brumos might keep theirs for prestige buts its a modern cup with no great history, time to sell it.

but also, come December lots of teams decide to want to run the 24H and some of these cars get swallowed up. the big issue which will hurt demand i think is the uncertainty of the new racing series, the combo of the rolex and alms, what the spec for the new class will be, whats competitive. plus, unless im mistaken, they are very much supposed to be restricting entry into the event. that is, in the past, every dick joe and harry would scramble together 4 gent drivers paying 40,50,60k $ each with a pro or two, and they'd do the 24H for fun, maybe get in the top 10 or just make it as far as possible. now, i dont think they are going to permit that many casual entries so you never know.

SG-ZSA -- thanks for your comments and education here!!
Are these cars tubbed like RSR? What else in suspension spec is needed to be RSR?
What is speed comparison to say--997 cup cars? I like to see that expressed in seconds per minute!!

You cant compare lap times on GA Cups and RSR at the same track because of tires.

GA Cup Cars have to run Continental slicks which are basically hard hoosier slicks with a soft sidewall, so they are limited by tire grip.

RSR's in ALMS GT run test compounds of michelin slicks that are not available to the public and are very fast.

IMO a GA CUP on the same tire as a RSR will have be faster down the stariaghts but the RSR has the Downforce to be faster everywhere else.

I would venture to say that with the same gearbox and 4.0L engine the RSR would be 1.5-2 seconds a lap faster and that is purely based on added aero and DF.

But this is pure hypothesis, but based on real world information.

I believe that car was at the road America pca race this year. (and was beat by a car we are trying to sell for less than half the price )

As stated already, the current spec rolex cup's are super heavily modified. A lot of work to the rear wheel well/tub to fit the 710 tires at a 2in ride height. Most of the body work is made by the teams themselves. They should have let them run the gt3r in the class. The teams would have saved money and ended up with cars that are worth much more at the end of the day.

Labeling this car an "RSR" is a misnomer IMO...

This car is kind of an orphan…race it in NASA GTSU I suppose. Or restrict and race in GTS 5. Where else will you have anyone to race?

It would make a killer GTA2 PCA car. Expensive to run but very fast I'm sure.
