Default Jack stands for cups

I have seen the nifty two-stage stands for use with air jacks that allow the car to be raised to twice the height that the air jacks alone, but they are very expensive.

I have also seen people at the track with cars up on air jacks but with four non-adjutable jack stands at the four "normal" jacking points acting as a safety for the air jacks. I thinking having a set of those would be wise. Do you know of someone selling those ready made or do I need to have someone fabricate them to my specs?

I took a regular jack stand and cut the legs down to make it shorter. replaced the insert with a piece of channel with square tube welded to the bottom of it to go into jack hole.

^^^+1 I bought a set as well. They work fine and are very light. If you want the factory ones they tend to be big $$$.

JT of Tatum Racing just started to make custom ones. Maybe give him a call, (954) 240-0335. Let him know that Sloan gave you the referral

Apologies for using an old thread but hoping one of you can help .....

Do these go inside the collar on the bottom of the car tub or around the outside? I imagine it wouldn't be good for the stand to rest on the air jacks seal or even on the Ali locking nut around the jack, but I might be wrong? Ps - the front jack doesn't have a collar, so that's easier but for the rear two ..... Thanks!

Hiwind,

The ones that I have are about 10" tall 3 1/2" aluminum tubes w/a 10" round aluminum base and a handle. There are four of them that go under the standard factory jack points. They also work great on the boxster. The collars that go around the airjack itself are machined aluminum and the bottom of the jack collar sit on them. There are one per air jack. There is also a safety collar that goes around the jack shaft if you needed some security getting under the car while the jacks are down, but not for extended use.

Hi Nick - how tall are they? Do they just fit under the car when air jacks are extended and then you release some air to engage the Ali stands you have?

The stands are 9" tall so they just slide under the cars body work and are positioned where the (4) jacking points are. I usually pull the air wand off the car and leave it up or release the air and let the car sit on the stands when I am doing any work to it.
