Sorry, I don't know much about the various bodywork options.

My advice:
Let's part exchange your 2005 for a 2010 Cup with very fresh engine and box.

Modded Porsches tend to loose their value very quickly where original cars are easy to sell, hold their value very well and will be requested for ever and ever.
Modding your 2005 will make it fast but you'll never get that back in re-sell value. Your new 2010 Cup will give you all the new challenges as a driver to cope with. It's a real race car compared to a 996 Cup.

Once you've mastered the 997 Cup you'll be able to sell her in no time and move to a 991 Cup.

PM me and we connect via e-mail and i send you all info on the 2010 Cup

I am very serious.
If the 2005 is original and in good shape, and we level out the shipping cost, the additional costs for the exchange would be around 25,000 Euro.

For that money you can't do what you planned to do with your 996 and selling your 3,9 996 Cup RSR lookalike will be almost impossible because most buyers would want to rebuild it back to completely stock 3,6.

Now i see.

Matt now owns that car and is now digging up this thread checking on wider tires. Sorry. I read it all in one breath.

Well Matt. If you wanted to upgrade your 2005 Cup to 3,9 with RSR fenders and stuff .........
Don't. Just call me :-)

Speaking off which: Let's meet up in Cape Town. I am there from December 7 till 17 for a TVC shoot

Just wondering what options there are for running more rubber up front and to what degree I can go?

Currently run 245 front & 300 rear 18s.

Anyone got bits and bobs required?

Thanks!

Matt
so I imagine I can either buy some road fenders (off GT3 or Boxer, right?) and widen them with a hammer/thongs/bodywork

or just buy the 2010 plastic front fender wheel arch extentions?

Am I on the right track?

thanks Cory .. the flared 996 05 front fenders give you 1" which might be enough .. and they'll be lighter

Why not just put 997 front end bodywork on the car? Significantly better aero and you can use as much tire as you want

I have '03 cup with '05 upgrades. Not sure about the fenders but I run Michelin 25/64/18 slicks in the front which are 265mm wide.

I also agree with Ivo that it is better to spend the money switching to 997 CUP than trying to make one out of a 996.
