Cup engine weight?

I've searched high and low and can't find any weights for the newer water-cooled cup car motors. Anyone have one or know where I could get one? Any year, dressed, dry or otherwise would be useful.

I'm specifically looking at replacing the air cooled motor in my '69 with an '06 cup car motor, but don't tell anyone (and yes, I do have the 6-speed g-50 and water lines, etc needed).

I'd really appreciate a weight so I can figure out what this would do to my balance.

Thanks in advance.

Curious where are you located?

We have one that is sitting on a dolly. Will see if we can get a weight for You. It is a friends and is for sale if You have an interest. I will say they dont seem any heavier than a 993 NA motor, fyi.

We weighed mine at 435 lbs including 9 qts. of oil, stock headers, no exhaust, no flywheel.
There are alot of variables (too many to go into here), but you'll wind up a bit heavier with the Cup motor (from 25-75 lbs depending on what air cooled motor you have now, what you're doing now for oil coolers and oil tank, and what you do in the future for radiators and how they're plumbed back to the engine. The xtra weight will all be in the rear but can be moderated (again depending on what you have now) with lighter body panels. Just comparing the weight of the two motors outside the car without regard to plumbing, oil coolers vs. radiators etc (the Cup motor had oil in it and the air cooled didn't), there was over a 50 lb differcne. I can't find the weight of the air cooled in my records right now, but my best recollection is there was a 65 lb. difference between the two motors.

John,

What motor are you comparing the cup motor to?

Right now I've got a 993 VRam with cams, solid lifters, etc. Just about the heaviest 911 motor known to man. 435 lbs plus a flywheel and exhaust (~25 lbs) still sounds similar to or perhaps even lighter to what I've got now... Don't know that I can go lighter on the panels, but the radiators and oil tank would go up front (same as the air cooled)...

Sounds similar weight overall to the VRam? Thanks very much for that, btw...

The comparison was between a 2007 997 Cup and a 1996 993 Vram modified to 3.8L
