That's why i said based rather than say they are the same. Detail differences in the race car parts.

Hi Steve,

The 'regular' cup REAR bumper is not CF?

Hmmm, the plot thickens :-). Ok, where would a CF rear bumper come from other than PMS? It is a center exit, tow hook fits perfectly, bolts up perfectly, doesn't look like Kevlar...

Thanks

Yup sorry to say . I think the idea was keep the cost down . There was a lot of rubbing is racing mentality in Cups unfortunately . RSR were carbon to my best of my limited knowledge but those were big dollars

The regular 996 cup rear bumper definitely WAS carbon. At least it was from 2003 (or 2002?) onwards (whenever they went to the center exit muffler). I had a CF cup bumper on my 996 GT3 road car and my 2003 cup has its original carbon bumper in place. I know this as it has its race number from when it competed in Carrera Cup Australia marked on the inside of the bumper in permanent marker - Carrera Cup cars had to run everything factory as per the regulations. Happy to get pics for anyone who is interested.

The hood was steel same as the road car (except with a hole cut for the air jack spike.

Thanks Spiller, mine fits better than I would expect an aftermarket one to fit. In addition, unlike the Getty / Gt designs, the cutout for the tow hook is a molded in cutout...

Ok, now I feel better, sooo, what is this thing worth. Brent is it worth the $1200 or so to buy the fiberglass version, paint it, and install it?
