997 Cup Wishbone Service Bulletin

997 Cup Wishbone Service Bulletin
Just received three service bulletins from Porsche concerning the 997 cups (2005 - 2013).
The one that applies to all 997 cups addresses the bearing journal and lock nut on all four wishbones. I'm passing this info on for all the 7 cup owners that are not on PMNA's mailing list and because Porsche appears fairly adamant that these parts be replaced. Here is the message:
"Porsche Motorsport North America would like to inform that the bearing journals (3) and the lock nuts (2) MUST be changed to the new parts version before a cars next event (test, race, roll-out or otherwise). The old bearing journals and lock nuts MUST NOT be used again."
Sounds like they mean it.

Looks like they are different, Steve. I recently bought two replacement wishbones for my 996 cup from Porsche Motorsports with part nos. 996.341.121.90 and 996.341.122.90. The "mounting" piece is common with part no. 996.341.441.90.

The parts referenced in the bulletin, 997.341.413.9H and the locknut are not regular 997 cup parts. These are Cup S or RSR parts that have the wishbones with replaceable pins.
No regular 997 or 996 cup will have these at all unless changed over to the RSR arms. I happen to have them in my 997 cup, but that is because they are stronger and I am not trying to comply to GTC4. My guess is that they have found a misgiving about either the design or the material that these were made from. Bummer that I have them and a few new ones in the drawer as well.
Demon Speed actually looked into making these bearing journals for a bit, but then we decided against it because of how specific the material and processing is. As long as they are still available it would be best to buy them through PMNA.
Thanks
Ed
