Default 6 piston 996 GT3cup second gen brakes with 1st gen wheels??

So I know the early 0229021 wheel centers on the early cups won't clear the 2nd gen brakes and have clearance issues. What size spacer did you run? I have heard some people gring on the calipers to clear, but that seems dangerous. Any thoughts.

The amount of caliper that must be ground down is minuscule. My car has been operating like this since 03 with no issues.

Do what I did and put the earlier wheels on and run them. I did this purely by accident. I have a 2005 and I had no idea this was even a thing and noticed on my way to the grid there was a lot of grinding going on. It was my first event ever with the car and shortly after I got going the grinding stopped but I thought it was just because the car was so loud. I was pretty surprised when I pulled the front wheels off after the session and some some of the caliper had turned from red to a very shiny silver. I did end up changing the centers out to the right clearance but there hasn't been an issue with the caliper since that all happened.

Can you share some pictures of your caliper?

Haulinkraut- I promised I'd get you some pictures and forgot to send them. Here they are. One of each front rim. The rims I have now are the correct clearance.

So the damage occcured when I put a set of older rims on my 2005 Cup. I ran one session at Road Atlanta and that was the result. I had recently bought the car and the guy that sold me the car also sold me an extra set of rims in addition to the 2 sets that came with the car. I don't think he realized they were for the earlier 996 Cup Cars. I ran them one session and then changed to the correct size/clearance rims. On the passenger side rim, I did have to change what I believe is a caliper break line that runs between the calipers. The caliper was obviously grounded down by the rim but so was this line. It was deep enough that it was deemed safer to put a new line on. The driver side was fine. You can see in the picture of that line on the driver side. It was scraped enough to take the red paint off but the damage was cosmetic only.

I have 3mm spacers, that is enough. BTW I run with the spacers all the time even if its only the rain rims that are old style centers.
