Default WTB 996 CUP SHIFTER

Looking for new old stock or used 996 CUP SHIFTER for my 996 AC delete GT3 Guard Red.

Basically got two weeks to find this part before my car goes in for a major service. Id like to get the shifter installed at that time.

Price negotiable.

cheers

Agree, with that kit you can find yourself an ordinary 996 shifter and make it better than the cup unit.

The experienced cup drivers have repeatedly informed people here that the function first is better. Yet there still is a demand for the stock cup shifter. Can you explain why. It makes no sense to me.

I've driven several cars with numeric shifters and I think it's the biggest POS out there. I vastly prefer the OEM Cup shifter with Cup cables and wouldn't use a Numeric if it was given to me for free. I know a number of guys with tons of Cup race experience that feel the same way. If I could find a new or like new Cup shifter I'd pay good money to have a spare. Different strokes for different folks I guess, nothing wrong with that...

It would be helpful if you actually read what i stated. Nowhere do i mention Numeric. And i fully agree it is a POS. Function First is not Numeric.

I am surprised that Demonspeed hasn't jumped on making the unobtainable cup shifter parts. Seems like easy money.

My bad, sorry. I don't know why my brain was thinking Numeric. Maybe it's because I always hear guys hyping up the Numeric shifter and it's garbage. Yeah, I've been curious about the Function First bushing/bearing retrofit myself.

i know man I completely feel you! I want a cup shifter so bad. Problem is I can’t fregggggin find one. So I’m going with a 997.2 RS shifter and will replace when I find someone willing to sell new to slightly used cup shifter (under 10-20k miles)

cheers

yes ive gotten so many people blasting me with numeric. One of my buddy’s has a numeric in his 997.1 GT3 (came with it) and he hates it. My other buddy has a 997.2 Gt3 with cup shifter and he loves it. So yes def going to try and find Cup shifter. Hoping rennlist can come through for me when the right guys reads this.
Haha

Trust me when I tell you get the Function First . They sell you the whole set up. Its the Cup car shifting mechanism with better bushings/ bearings. Looks identical
It just make finding gears so much more precise.

The Numeric Shifter is not Garbage or a POS. I have many many satisfied customers. I hold extremely tight tolerances and all the action is on bearings. It is a Patented design. The housing is all billet aluminum and simply does not flex. I also use all Stainless steel hardware. You also have 3 different positions for shifter throw. There have been updates over the years to improve it. Specifically the bearings and shift lever. Years ago before I made the Numeric I tried to make a cheaper alternative to work with the 996 cup shifter and stock shifters. Once I felt the action on it I simply couldn't bring myself to manufacture it let alone sell it. The only difference between a 996 cup and stock is they use aluminum bushings rather than plastic and the throw is slightly shorter. My calculations about 15%. The tolerances are a lot looser and over time will become sloppy. Simply push and pull on your stock plastic shifter with some force and you will see how it flexes. I've thrown quite a few 996 Cup shifters and Stock shifters that I have taken out of customers cars and threw them in the trash.
