Yea, I am having a little trouble with the math. I am only an engineer, so I might not understand the German math.
$25,000 service on the motor every 100 hours is $250/hour. Got it. That math works.
$8900 at hour 30 and hour 90 is somehow $515 per hour? after the second service, this would be 17,800/90 or $197
$22,000 at hour 60 and 120 would be $44,000/120 or $366 per hour.
Now, if you ran the car to 120 hours, the cost would be $25,000 + $8900 + $8900 + $22,000 + $22,000 or $86,800/120 = $723 per hour.
Second comment is, I am not sure what engine service is being performed, but if it is a $25,000 rebuild at PMNA for that money, that is a deal.

And the new 992 Cup won't be out until early 2020.........this would be a great Club/track car.....love the blue! :-)

100 hour OH's recommended.. Engine actually self-destructed at 50 hours while leading a PCA Race at Watkins Glen. I expect the new 700 HP 991
GT2RS Race engines to have similar much higher operating expenses than the GT3R's NA Engines.

Exactly. Hoping PCA comes to its senses and allows ABS in GTC7 now that IMSA has legalized and PCA have their very own limited edition Cup with ABS.
You'd think it a no-brainer with the reduction in consumable costs and reduced risk of contact, but maybe PCA just really likes seeing all those Cups run into each other at their events....

I understand what you are saying and do agree. I have worked with the folks at PCA long enough to know their dilemma in this situation. 1) the cars DID NOT COME FROM THE FACTORY WITH ABS 2) Yes now only Masters class in IMSA allows this 3) They try to run by factory delivered parts on the car 4) They also look at the costs to all the people in the class that change would effect to stay competitive With the car prices coming down on the Gen1s to low $100s and Gen2s still in the upper mid $100s, the cost to install ABS is now 10% or more of the car cost. That is a lot of money. Set against the costs to run these cars I know that 98% of the owners could afford it but the obligation on a costly change weighs heavily on their decision.
re: cost, setting aside reduced risk of hitting something - never a cheap proposition in a Cup - at +$2k per set of tires it doesn't take long for ABS to pay for itself.

OK still the their thought process is the same. While the OPTION to install afterward is there from Motorsports, it did not come with ABS. If IMSA required it of all Gen 1s and 2s next year then the trickle down in a couple years with many more cups with ABS already installed would factor into their decision. Until then, I just dont see it happening. You can present all the reduced costs data , but the increased safety is not bad untill you look to the 997s that could have been forced to install ABS for safety, but never was and never will.

Yup, I've heard the argument before and I think it's short-sighted and not in the best interest of PCA Club Racing or its participants. Regardless, no skin off my back as there's a growing list of series allowing ABS-equipped Cups to run.

not sure about the carbon fiber fenders on a club racer...
had a minor (sort of...) incident at road america last week in my 991.2 cup that necessitated replacing the sheet metal front fender (among other things...) - i’m guessing the carbon fiber fender is orders of magnitude more expensive than the sheet metal one...
unless, of course, you never hit anything - or anyone...

$223k for the car
$25k for shipping & import
$20k for spares package
$26.8K for sales tax (which can be gotten back, if structured properly...)
so, $268k net after getting sales tax back...
VERY important to note that once you have the car, you’re just getting started with spending $$$ - and you should do so with a race shop that REALLY knows what they’re doing...
additional costs include:
- dyno/break-in time...
- abs kit - must have, if at all possible...
- additional sets of wheels - preferably 4...
- radio/video systems...
- cool suit cooler...
- wrap design/cost...
- tires - the gift that keeps on taking - “hey - the first set is on me...”
- race shop track prep...
- hit/touch something - it IS going to happen...
it’s an expensive hobby/sport/mistress...
but it’s really good for your mental state - and i mean REALLY GOOD...
and there’s NO WAY i’m giving it up anytime soon...
