997 2005 Super Cup information
Looking for some help in determining how many 2005 997 Super Cups were produced by Porsche. I have seen that there were 90 996 Cups produced and I have read there were 170 997 Cups produced between late 2005 and 2006. I believe Porsche only gave the 05 997 Cups to teams participating in the Super Cup series. Just cant find the the number produced in 05 or a VIN series to check. Thanks in advance for any help or direction.

35 is the number I have down for 2005 997 Cups, I believe them to all be Super Cups. Highest VIN I've come across was WP0ZZZ99Z5S798033, or possibly WP0ZZZ99Z5S798102, I believe the 102 to be a typo and actually 012, maybe it was misread and a 2006. it was the #64 TRG/JLowe car in 2007-08.

Thanks for the help. I have heard 30, 52 or 60. I tend to believe the 35. I have the 79813 chassis which we think is the Allesandro Zampedri car. It seems from what i have read that some cars that were true 05 cars were actually imported to the states as 06 cars. Confusing at best. Thanks again.

I've looked into it a couple times and it's hard to get a firm answer. I believe the 35 number to be in the ballpark. There were 29 cars that actually raced in the Supercup series in support of Formula 1 that year. Outside of Supercup, teams in other series were still getting 996 Cups for other series in 2005. I have Weiland's #15 Vertu car that I got as a project a few years back.
