Default Air jacks leaking

Seems to be my week for starting threads. I just went to raise my 996 cup using the air jacks to swap wheels and there is a hissing sound coming from the front jack which gets louder as I allow more nitrogen into the system through the regulator. I cannot hear any leaks from the lines but when I put my hand under under the car in the vicinity of the jacking piston, I can feel air (not high pressure). If I remove the wand from the car, the car slowly drops the ground on its own before releasing the pressure, meaning the system is not holding pressure.

I last used it about a month ago and it worked perfectly. The car has since been to a shop for replacement of 80% of it’s cooling hoses and a center radiator.

Any ideas? I was under the impression that the jacking system was maintenance free.

I was only referencing what I read in the 996 cup technical manual.

I’ll have to re-read the 996 manual as I don’t remember ever coming across that. Regardless, it appears I have an issue. What is involved in servicing them?

cup car solutions here in the states is the one that can service air jacks.

I had the front air jack in our brand new cayman clubsport fail in the 6 hour we ran at sebring

No reason no warning, car had about 100 miles on it and probably 5 cycles.

Just bought a new one from porsche at the track and installed.

The old one will go to jack at cup car solutions for service

http://cupcarsolutions.com/ Sometimes they can be rebuilt instead of buying new. On the 996s though you will find that water accumulates internally in the rear 2 shocks causing corrosion ( leaving air wand interface up and washing car or raining will also let water in. Plus just water from the compressed air). Many times these will need to be replaced due to this.

Thanks for the info guys. I'll take a look at cup car solutions. They don't have an email listed on the webpage, are they on rennlist?

Ask for jack. No joke

If you need a new air jack, he can replace one cheaper than PMNA

Back when we were racing them in Carrera Cup i had Derek Van Zelm remake the jacking piston for me. I am not sure where he is now. I would imagine that someone in Adelaide like K&A should be able to service or make a part to fix the problem.

Thanks Andy. I found a Sobek dealer in NSW who said he can do it but didn’t even think of K&A. I’ll give them a call
