Default Engine idle speed 996 cup

What should it be? My ‘03 idles at about 2K which seems way too high. Is the idle speed adjusted electronically or manually?

Adjust with an allen key under the throttle body.

Thanks for the info. Any ideas on what RPM to set the idle speed? I figure it needs to be higher than a road car to make it easier to get going in the paddock with the race clutch.

The engine management will try to keep it around 1800 to 2000 rpm. It can only do this with timing and fuel as the is no ability to control the throttle. Alot of people have incorrectly adjusted the airbleed making the idle unstable or poor idle when cold. I have found that the best result are setting hot with the smallest amount of airbleed possible. This should give good cold start and little if any hunting at idle. If the setting is wrong you will get stalling and hunting at idle.

My cold start is a bit rough, you have to manually add revs for 30 seconds or so otherwise the engine stalls. This follows approx 90 seconds of hunting before stabilizing at 2K. I’ll try reducing the bleed with the engine hot and see if this helps.

Thanks that's really useful info and explains a lot .Can you confirm when you say as little air bleed as possible , do you mean air bleed should be as close to closed as possible ?
