Default 996 Cup production numbers

Does anyone have the figures for the worldwide delivery of all 996 cup models? I’d be curious to know.

Do people see them becoming as valuable as the 993 and 964 cup cars in the future given their relatively low production numbers and simpler, classic atributes (i.e. h-pattern etc etc)?

From what i read in tech regs on GT3 cup racing regarding vin’s allowed to compete the production numbers should be..

2001 996 Cup WP0ZZZ99Z1S698001 to WP0ZZZ99Z1S698114
2002 996 Cup WP0ZZZ99Z2S698001 to WP0ZZZ99Z2S698200
2003 996 Cup WP0ZZZ99Z3S698001 to WP0ZZZ99Z3S698200
2004 996 Cup WP0ZZZ99Z4S698001 to WP0ZZZ99Z4S698150
2005 996 Cup WP0ZZZ99Z5S698001 to WP0ZZZ99Z5S698090 ?

2001 = 114
2002 = 200
2003 = 200
2004 = 150
2005 = 90 ?

This is the best i could come up with, happy to be corrected.. and yes I believe the 04 & 05 cups in original condition with good history will command higher prices as the years go on

Thanks for the info James. So 700 odd cars, perhaps 200 dead and buried over the years?). Not huge numbers. Are there any differences in the cars from 03 vs 04/05?

Essentially no difference. The later exhausts were supposed to make more power with the 05 being the best.

Number I have written down is 35, but I've also a VIN ending in 102 written down for 05 (it would make more sense if that was actually an 06).

it was in essence just enough cars to run the supercup series and i believe the carrera cup series in europe. In 2005. In 2006 they made cars shipped to usa in addition to cars for the serirs above. In 2005 they justvinned the remaining 04 996 cups for sale primarily to us customers and built enough 997s for the two euro series. 05 997 should be a low count as a result while they are identical in spec to the 06. The 07 was a better car only because of the port matched intake runners versus the 996 style runners on 05.5 and 06 997s...In 08 they used the same 07 intake runners but used the twin flap pl3num ala 07 grand am 997 cups. 09 featured same intake runners and twin flap plenum in addition to naca duct on hood for additional driver cooling, kool cf inside panel doors. 05.5 through 07 featured shorter 5th and 6th gear versus 08,09.
so best stock car is 07, best update backdate car is 08,09 with 06-07 5th,6th gear. Or 05.5-07 with updated plenum and runners....hope that makes sense...

Yep, makes total sense. The problem with the 07-09 cars is the skinny 3-4 gears but pretty much all are updated now.

I don't own one, but I have seen up close the 7th 1998 6 Cup produced. Won the Silverstone round of the Super Cup in 1998. Still all original spec. Wild that the early engines needed valve adjustments and it used the 993 GT2 gearbox. Also has front calipers and rotors that look like what was on the 993 GT2. Still has the vinyl on it from when it raced that season. Painted black from the factory. Here's a pic from when it was featured in Excellence in a comparison test with the 993 Cup.
