early 997 cup exhaust on 997.1 gt3 street?

hello
i bought an 997 cup exhaust (early cars until 2007) and want to attach on the gt3 street 997.1.

is there a performance disadvantage to the later cup exhausts?

what is the noise of the exhaust - for the 996 cup were two versions available 103 and 110db - i dont have a parts cataloge for the early 997 cup?

attached a picture of the exhaust - also the item number of mine

Couple issues are going to be present:

- O2 sensors are different on that exhaust than you 997.1 GT3
- Not sure that exhaust fits that car as the updated exhaust was a direct fit, but again used only one O2 sensor per side and the street cars use two on each side (pre and post cat).

Good luck with the project.

Makes no sense IMO to install this exhaust.

Headers are way advanced on the 997 GT3 versus here (old 996 design). Just get the Linkpipes of the 997 Cup 2008-2013 and keep the headers/ center muffler. That removes a lot of weight and heat in the area where the pre-silencers were as they´re thrown out and makes the car sound much nicer. Exhaust gases will have a nicer flow and that will enhance the power output a little bit. (11hp on a 997.2 GT3). Your rear tire wear will also benefit!

I have had multiple exhausts on my 997RS. Supercup pipes. Sharkwerk bi pass, stock muffler with side deletes etc...

My current exhaust is the 997 Cup Side muffler deletes with a 997 Cup center muffler. It is factory appearance, sounds great and is 100% streetable and track DB friendly.

The issue with 997 Cup center mufflers however is that the internal baffles blow out.
I had to open my muffler up and weld it it back together. It works and sounds great.

Alternatively, you can get the side deletes and a M&M center muffler... Or Akra center muffler.

I would avoid motorsports headers.
The stock headers and stock 02 sensors are just fine.

@tcsracing1

with 02 you mean 2nd gen gt3?

what is wrong with the motorsport headers? you can delete this with reprogramming the ecu?

O2 sensors = Oxygen/ Lambda sensors.

Not even necessary to upgrade the center muffler to a 997 Cup one... Just get the plugs that PMNA uses on the 991.1 Cup (as they run the 7.2 street center muffler) and close the two upper holes.
Same effect but at lesser cost.

Here are the parts you need to do the conversion as described above:

1x 997 111 301 90; Link pipe left
1x 997 111 302 90; Link pipe right
2x 997 111 461 8A; Plug

When I did the conversion these parts were about 760,00€ including VAT (German prices).

I also never really liked the center muffler deletes... This sounds much better and has more advantages IMO.

Thinking this would be an easy way to delete side mufflers on the 991.2 street gt3.. Thoughts on using 991.2 center muffler and 991cup side deletes pipes and block off plates... Should work no?

o2 sensors

Motorsports headers and programming ECU is not neccessary on a 997 imo.
Stock headers and tune are fine.

If you use the pipes of the 991.2 Cup: Yes! Center muffler should be the same anyways.

^^^ Thx. I have my PMNA guy checking on part #s... prefer to use factory stuff and have usable spares for the next cup.

If you are going to use cup side deletes, I wouldnt use your stock center 997.1 muffler.

I also recall that the 997.2 center muffler is titanium? I wouldnt use that either.

Once you take the side mufflers off, the stock center cannot handle the additonal heat and flow.

The street 997.2 center muffler (steel version, not the RS Ti version) is exactly the one Porsche Motorsport uses on all 991.1 Cups. Works without issues... They just close the upper holes with the plugs I mentioned earlier. I‘m not exactly sure but I think it‘s even in the 991.2 Cup.

I also ran this very exact setup on a 997.2 GT3 without any issues for more then 45k km (lots of Track useage included).

991.1 cup from below w bolt on long exh tips. Will get some part #s incl the tips which are noticeably longer than 991.2 street version

997.2 cup motor w original muffler (Imsa spec) w built in tailpipes and no block off plates. Your euro spec muffler may have been different?

ahhh. Yes. Thats right, the RS was a titanium center on the 997.2.
Been so many years i forgot the differences.

The titanium center was expensive and prone to cracking if side deletes were used.

I have a 997,2 gt3 rear muffler for sale if someone need it
