Ugh, a base 718 going for more than a Carrera a few years back. Think the GT4 was my last new Porsche Purchase. I'll let someone else take the depreciation from now on...

It is an S of course. And well done and very well optioned. And it should to be carrying $44K in options and it needs a gas cap and I like the hand painted crest too.
But in my time on RL, and before, one of the most frequent topics is as we all know should I get this Cayman for $$, or what is this Cayman worth, and the like.
I think this answers it.
Where else can you get this much car for this much money?
How about where else can you get this much performance, quality, reliability, and a mid-engined car for this much money?
I bought the Cayman because it is exactly the Porsche and sports car I wanted. I also wanted the 6 cylinder. Yeah I'd trade my Cayman (981-2016) for a MSRP'd 991 911R. My Cayman S would be at the dealer probably that day as the 911R would be it for me . . for . . forever. Of course that aint happening.
The answer is yes a Cayman in normal condition is worth it.
Or there is new one there still on the floor.

Or, heck, buy a brand new Alfa 4C with a bunch of options for $70K. Yeah, probably not as reliable, but you've got 4 years of warranty and $40K earning money in the market to cover repairs after that.
Depreciation on new cars is pretty bad, but depreciation on that $44K of options is going to be downright brutal...

Yeah thats usually the question if you poke around here much.
Most guys getting a new Cayman have already decided if it is worth it or its value to get to that point.
For the used Caymans -
Is it worth 30? Well it depends.
Is it worth 40? Well it depends.
Is it worth 50? Repeat . . .
For 70K you can get in range of a new base or a lightly used Cayman. Still better than the Alfa in my mind. Or a Lotus Elise. But thats an individual opinion.
So the answer still holds true.

I agree with you TexasRider the 911R is the dream. One was at a Porsche & Coffee in Scottsdale last winter and it was actually driven there! What an awesome car complete with proper 6MT.
For me by '14 CS is a dream come true, but the 911R a true dream.

Thats me too.
And our dealer has a 911R sitting right there - for $459 I think.
Yeah Im not going there in the Is it worth it evaluation . . because at 499 its just too far for me anyway. At Porsche MSRP Id be climbing the walls and robbing the back account and filling out loan papers too. The R us sitting by a 918 for that matter.
