Default Rear fender storage compartments

Do all Caymans have them?

What do you guys put in there that won't rattle around?

I try to keep my front and rear trunks clear so have stuck a variety of things in empty spaces. Currently one my rear storage areas has jumper cables, which are a tight enough fit that they don't rattle, and the other has tire plug supplies and rags, which also don't rattle. They are not the most convenient to get to, so I put stuff in them I may never need.

All 981 model Caymans have those storage compartments - not sure about previous versions.

I've never used them as they're rather awkward to access.

My '11 981.2 has them also. I was just wondering. I leave mine empty, sort of like the plastic box that came on the back of the old school Big Wheel.

The 987.2 has them. I keep a qt of oil, a small tool set, and some rags in mine.

Good place for oil, though the cap split on a bottle once and made a mess - the fortunate aspect is that the compartment is a nice single molded pocket. For rattle-ly things, I just wrap them in a cloth. In particular, I keep a tire plug repair kit plus minimal tools in lieu of a spare or having to use the slime bottle.

I put a bottle of wine in there as I was worried about if I hit a bad bump and it broke in the trunk I'd stain my carpets, while I would never know what it stained in there. Of course itd probably be hard to clean it out.

Keep a Leatherman tool and a small flashlight in one side wrapped in a clean rag and owners manuals in the other side. These two compartments won't hold a lot but it is a space I didn't want to see unused and frees up space elsewhere; e.g., glove compartment.

Perfect for storing ball bearings... That way you'll never hear your hatch rattle.

Seriously though, microfiber detail cloths are about the only thing I ever stored in them.
