peeling/bubbling panels 987.2?
I've been searching around and haven't found any real threads in regards to peeling / bubbling panels on the 987 (or porsches of that era).
I'm looking at a 987.2 and there's some bubbling/peeling of some of the panels in the interiors. Where the power window switch is (driver's side), the center console (pdk area), and the center glove box.
Is this common (my search doesn't yield much), and what are the fixes? Remove it (how difficult) and wrap it perhaps?

Here are two pictures of the window switch area and the center console. The area on the window switch isn't where someone would constantly touch. Seems like it wasn't prepped properly when it was painted/bonded by porsche perahps.

Those look like two different problems. The window switch area appears to be is de-laminating and the console area appears to be chipped or worn off.
In the window switch area, I wonder if one or both of the window switches somehow shorted and overheated, causing the material above them to de-laminate and bubble up.
The chipping/wear on the console could be the result of the seat belt "tongue" hitting the console as the belt is repeatedly pulled across and latched, or perhaps something like a briefcase being drug into and out of the seat on a routine basis.
No factual knowledge here...Just conjecture.

Not much you can do besides either replace the parts (very expensive) or remove the old soft-touch and either paint or leave uncoated.

I replaced my switch faceplate because of the bubbling. Now I'm starting to see early signs of bubbling on my console. Do you think I could apply something on top of it to prevent it getting worse eg some sort of nail lacquer or ?
