Default 2200 mile road trip

Just returned from a long road trip through CA, NV, AZ, UT, and CO in my 2014 CS. 80+ mph Interstate cruising, spirited mountain curves, sea level to 11,330' and even some stop and go city driving and returned average of nearly 32 mpg over the entire trip. One 500 mile segment returned 33.2 mpg. And I was NOT driving with economy in mind. What a car!! Best feature of this car is the handling closely followed by the sweet sound of the engine and PSE.

Your experience agrees with mine: It has been my experience with my Boxster and my Turbo is these cars get pretty good fuel mileage even at "speed". Both have done a number of long road trips covering 2K+ miles in just a few days then after a few days' "rest" turning around and doing another 2K+ miles to home and I like to watch/monitor fuel economy to try to maximize this without being a road boulder and sort of at odds with maximizing fuel economy trying to keep the average speed up. I love it when over a span of distance -- hundreds of miles during ideal times -- I can get the average speed up to the posted speed limit.

Wash the bugs off the car and take it out again!

Now that sounds like a great trip! The roads on those open plains are just mind blowing, can see for what seems like forever. Nothing but you and the car, the way it should be!

Having driven through lots of CA, AZ, NV, UT, and CO and there is you, the car, AND the occasional deer, AND the occasional speed trap.

While mini-vans and such can drive 10mph over Porsches can't. Texas trooper pulled me over in my Turbo for 10mph when I was just keeping up with other traffic this on I-40 east of Amarillo TX. (Had my V1 just forgot to turn it on when I left the hotel. Had I had it on I would have gotten an early warning and slowed down to the limit.)

I know your pain, in a way. Amarillo to me just seemed NEVER ENDING! Seemed like everyone just wanted to get through it and was steady cruising at 85mph. Now, in my jeep, not only could I not keep up but I was also under the radar!!

I opted to hop off of I-40 a little before I needed to and take the state route North through New Mexico and that exact moment is the moment I had wished I brought the M3 instead of the jeep!

Nice drive, but you must have been going slow . I brought my CPO baby home to Phoenix from Atlanta's Perimeter Dealership over the new years weekend this last year. 2000 + miles of learning how to drive a Porsche, my first and likely last one.

One day was 13 hours in the sport + seats with no complaint from this 56 year old. From the computer I got 28 mpg for the entire trip, matching the factory numbers. This did include some time at an airstrip in Texas as well as an early morning blast in West Texas.

Yes it is amazing what good mileage these cars get with a range of over 400 miles. I am glad you had a good time and hope you have many many more.
