I think you're way low.
The dealer paid him $25k on trade-in.
Retail is clearly higher than that.

Anything over 27-8k and car will sit. For awhile. JME.

I think selling a Cayman with 60k miles is not easy.
That car's been on for sale for a while.

I don't think the mileage is the issue. I think too many private party sellers price at dealer retail and won't negotiate enough. Problem is the private seller can't take a trade in or offer financing.

There are very few base 987.2 for sale, but that's because everyone bought an S. It's not a rare car but sellers seem to overprice them as if they are special or unique. I wouldn't pay over $22k for the car I linked. And for that I can buy a 987.1 S and have more performance.

987.2 2.9 rare combination of 9a1 and no DI. best prospects for longevity. same stroke as the 3.4. can always bore it out later.

agree with everything else.

Yes, some think the 2.9 is especially reliable. I'm not one of them. With proper oiling mods they are all good little engines.

Let's just say dealer retail is $28k
You will never get a car private party for $22k b/c trade in value is $25k.

You can't make a blanket statement like that. I just bought an 08S with $40k worth of options. Thats a huge delta when shopping.

People here are talking high 20S and even low 30S for well optioned cars. The $25k I linked isn't terribly well optioned. Each car must be assessed individually.

Wow, it looks like 2011 Cayman has not depreciated a cent in the last 5-6 years.

Wow! I was reading the whole thread thinking this was a current discussion of a potential purchase only to find that it is 5-6 years old. Recently, inflation has lifted the price of everything by devaluing the currency. A bigger factor is that sports car enthusiasts are realizing that cars like this will never be made again at any price. I almost sold my 987.2 Boxster 4 years ago. Today, my price is $7k above my asking price then.

I paid $33K for my CPO'd 2011 Base 6MT with 68K from Porsche Colorado Springs. It was a $66K car back in 2011 and was optioned with an LSD, Sport Chrono package, multi-function steering wheel, heated Sport seats with deviated seat stitching, 19" Carrera S II wheels, HIDs headlights and headlight washers, parking sensors, Bose/NAV/BT, and rain sensing wipers. Unknown to me at the time, it needed new shifter bushings, shifter cables and associated parts, engine and transmission mounts, clutch and flywheel, and air filter. Porsche Colorado Springs sent me a check for $3K for my trouble which covered the clutch and flywheel parts and install. I spent $1500 of my own money plus my own time (which I enjoyed) buying and installing the other parts.

I doubt the 987 Caymans, especially the .2 models will drop in value going forward and may appreciate. I think the car will become somewhat like a first gen Acura NSX. Some parts can be hilariously expensive, but overall it's a pretty reliable and somewhat easy car to work on.

Totally irrelevant, but I'll post anyway. Had my '11 987.2 S for 10 years, just turned 100k miles. PDK, Sport Chrono, Bose, LOADED and LIKE NEW. Softronics ECU remap for 355+ hp, modern Sony head unit using Most link/Bose w/back-up cam, GPS, CarPlay, etc. Perfectly maintained, new Conti tires. I drive it regularly, never rag it. Car has probably been red-lined a dozen times.....PDK protects from over-revs. Uses no oil. No issues. None.

I wouldn't sell it for less than $40k. It's worth every penny of that to me. No plans to ever sell. Why?
