2018 Cayman GT4 4.0
Porsche has been testing a new version of the Cayman GT4 & there's been rumour that the car will have a 4.0L engine.

I'm contemplating a move to the Cayman mid engine chassis from only 911 model ownership.
Question is for Rennlist members is should I pick up a low mileage 2016 model & probably pay more $ than MSRP? or wait around atleast another year & maybe not even get an allocation for a car.
Auto journalists & current owners are delighted with the current car, however the values of the 1st generation are likely diminishing if & when a 4.0L car gets released.

Which is more important to you? Driving or dollars? If driving is most important, buy now and drive. If the monetary value of the car is most important, you might want to wait for the "next big thing."
Of course, even if you wait, sooner than later there'll be yet another "next big thing" coming out and the monetary worth of your car could take a hit anyway.
I always choose driving over waiting, but that's just me.

I got to try the cars rather extensively at the Porsche Roadshow over a 2 day run time. The Cayman was for me no question about it.
So I then messed around and wasn't thinking about they weren't going to build a 6 cylinder Cayman again. So I had to rush and get a new Cayman S with the 6 last year. I could have bought a 911 or a GT4 but there were no GT4s left at the time.
A few days ago for another bud I went browsing on eBay and noticed there were quite a few 2016 Gt4s for sale and not a single 2016 Cayman S. What does it say? It depends really.
The "value" of these cars is what you get from driving them and what you want really. The 16s will go down in price as will the newer released ones too if they bring it out. If it happens that the new one is a special factory run of Caymans, then you won't get one anyway unless you bought a 918.
