Gotta admit, this would be the perfect track car.

I wonder if my dealer will let me take one out for a drive knowing that I have no intention to buy anytime this decade 😜

When he got to the part about the obsessive Porsche owners worshipping the Porsche crest while carefully polishing the hood (as shown on the maintenance manual), I laughed out loud, repeatedly. Wifey looked over and said "Yup, that's you alright!!" 😁

No need to send him anything, especially money because truth be told, the Cayman platform is the better platform, period!

confused... send who money?

As for better platform, arguably so.. Sadly, growing up my dream car was always a 911... tradition and emotion play a bigger role in purchase decisions than logic in most people's case.

To Doug of course... It's in your title (Oh you 718 guys must be sending Doug $$.. ).

Don't get me wrong I love the 911 but there is a reason the RSR race car is now a mid-engined car. It's amazing what Porsche engineers have done over the years to keep the 911 at this high of a level in the performance arena against other brands with mid-engined cars...This is true but I have never been one to let my emotions guide me when buying a car. :-)

oh yeah.. I spaced out. Yeah, truth be told I want one of each... I think Porsche needs to make a more upscale 718 in terms of interior options and trim (clearly a marketing decision).. But the history of the 911 is what I'm in love with... for me the ultimate Porsche is the 917, of course this is a race car, but the sound... oh that sound! I'm a total sucker for tradition when it comes to cars.

BTW.. I too am a JetJocky... albeit a A330, nothing as fancy as a fighter jet

Never heard the 917 live, but too me the best sounding road going Porsche engine I have heard is the V10 in the CGT... That engine on the Mont Tremblant track was by far the most wicked thing I have ever heard, better than any Ferrari or Lambo engine. I must also admit the flat six in the 911 GT3 and GT3RS when revved up to 9000 RPM are also music to my ears.

BTW, not to disappoint you, but no fighter jet jockey here, just a corporate pilot flying a Global Express.

Hat's off to you... those are some long segments with no crew rest facilities! 😂

Listen to that 917 video, volume turned up... Flat 12, NA.... for me this is heaven. Do you have $26M I can borrow?

My dream car was also a 911 growing up, but I can't really say that the new 992 (or 991s to be honest) fit the same mold the old ones did. When push came to shove, I ended up buying a Cayman. Now I'm looking at...another Cayman.

Well there is a crew bunk on the longer range Globals.

Wish I had that kind of money to spare because I would buy a Cayman MR race car for track duties. Also looking forward to the rumored upcoming Cayman GT4RS. If some or the rumors hold true, this could be an amazing car.

I also not feeling the 992 but I absolutely love the 997 and 991.

PCM bugs aside, and I've given PCNA an earful about this, the 992 is a far better "sports" car than both... I've had all the 911's since the dreaded 996 in Carrera trim, and my sister had a 997 Turbo... The 992 performance wise embarrasses all of them.
