I am looking to order the fabspeed exhaust tips in black chrome. Saw a comment om facebook regarding the quality of the coating. What is the truth here? Is it safe?

I ordered a black chrome exhaust tip set last year. The finish on the tips was extremely nice. Unfortunately, my tips were damaged in shipping because they were packed poorly (a problem which should now be fixed). Fabspeed sent a call tag for replacement as soon as I called them about the shipping damage. I ended up swapping the tips for carbon fiber tips instead, so I can't give any feedback on the long-term durability of the black chrome finish.

One minor thing that surprised me: the black chrome tips (and presumably the normal chrome tips too) are surprisingly heavy. The whole assembly with chrome tips weighed about the same as the stock exhaust tip, and most of that weight was in the actual tips. The carbon fiber tips are significantly lighter than the black chrome tips -- the whole assembly with carbon fiber tips is probably close to half the weight of the assembly with chrome tips.

Hello Bill, thanks for chiming in with your feedback. The Carbon Fiber is indeed a much lighter design, and is what i'm personally running on my cayman and love it haha. Apologies again on the packing issue, we have since put some additional procedures in place that we hope will eliminate the risk of it reoccurring.

So I got my exhaust tips delivered and put on the car. They end up pointing slightly upwards and does not line up perfect with the bumper shape. Still looks ok and have clearance but I would like the whole thing to be a bit higher. Dont know how much I dare to push the exhaust upwards before I will put stress on the headers. How sensible would it be? It would not be enough to just adjust the tips. The system need to go up.

You can move them around quite a bit. The header flanges are in front of the rear axles so the over axle pipes are long enough to allow you to move the tips around as much as you need. Just undo the four bolts that hold the exhaust and adjust things the way you like.

Thanks for the advise. It looks ok even if the pipes are pointing slightly upwards. But they är close to the bumper. Especially on the sides. I dont know how much the exhaust moves around when driving and in what direction clearance is needed. Losened the screws to the header flange this evening and there is no tension at all as it is now. The screws could be removed without problems. Will upload some picture tomorrow to get some feedback.
