My Code reader won't even power on when plugged in to my 06 CTT-S
Checked all the fuses and they were good. It's a cheap code reader from China. Do I need something that is self powered?
And second, "It's a cheap code reader from China.".

Code readers typically derive all of the "power" needed from the OBD port.
Sometimes the car needs to have the ignition turned on.
Otherwise, you probably have a defective reader unit.
