Default It's down to a 2015 base Cayman or a 2014 Cayman S, opinions?

Hey everyone!

Hopefully this is the last post before my "TAKE A LOOK AT MY FIRST PORSCHE" thread

I've narrowed it down to two cars... one is a 2015 base Cayman i've posted about before, and I could probably take it home for no less than $53-54,000... it has about 100 miles and was a demo, coming with the factory warranty.

The other car is a 2014 Cayman S with 8,000 miles or so, CPO warranty (which I sort of prefer due to higher mileage allowance, I will be driving about 20k/year) and they are asking $60,000 for it so i'm hoping to get it for 57-59.

I don't have the options for the S and the base model option list is in my other thread, but from what I can tell they are both fairly base.... nothing crazy for options.

Without knowing more, can anyone tell me if there's a reason I should pick the 2015? It seems obvious to me that for $5,000 I get the longer warranty and S model.

Hope i'm not annoying anyone with these threads... thanks in advance for all the help.

Collin

I'd go with the 'S'. You get all the 'S' upgrades and a longer warranty.

Based on this thread - https://rennlist.com/forums/987-981-...man-s-gts.html - the price seems reasonable. Could probably get it around $55k. If it has options you want.

I second this opinion ... go with the S.

I found a 2014 Cayman S with 12,000 miles and they're asking 58k for it... I'm gonna try and get down there to test drive by this weekend, hope it's still there...

if i were looking for the faster car only you have to go with the s. if performance is not top on your list next should be ride quality ...base may be the winner here. next would be color, options etc. and only you can make that choice. next is impulse/ devil may care attitude...get the new one most folks do not know the diff between an s and non s....you get bragging rights to a new po. both seem to be priced okay

I'd say the S and enjoy the extended warranty.

Turns out the S is not actually CPO... I still think I'll do it though and just look into extending the warranty myself if I have to.

If this car will be your DD, I wouldn't let the warranty be the determining factor for either one. Do you get enough options to be comfortable driving 20K a year, which I would consider to be minimally power/heated seats, PCM with Bluetooth, USB. More on the comfort side, but those are just my preferences. There are a lot of Caymans out there in your price range.
