Radar detector but why?

I bought my car as a DD. I find it quite refined for DD'ing compared to my 2nd gen Miata. Not quite luxury car levels of quiet but exceptional for this type of car (mid-engine, RWD, sportscar, etc).

That said, it seems to make more tire/road noise at lower speeds. Puzzling isn't it?

radar detector because it is easy to get a speeding ticket in these cars.
