Default 08 Cayman S on track question

Hi all,

After 2.5 years of ownerhip, I'm finally thinking about getting on the track with my Cayman S. The car is pretty much stock; I will put some upgraded pads on at the very least in the front and some better brake fluid.

Do I need to worry about anything on this car? I understand there is an oiling issue; is that really a problem at a track like Watkins Glenn if I am just running street tires?

Thanks in advance!

I started with my Cayman S just like you are proposing. Tons of days at The Glen with no issues at all. Of course as i got faster i did the basic mods still with no issues

You will love the CS on the track

I've had my completely stock 06 S on the track at Sebring and Roebling Road with no issues at all. You'll be fine.

With street tires I wouldn't even worry about different pads.

With street tires and being a novice driver you should have no oiling issues at WGI. With R comp tires and higher speeds, turn 6 can aggravate AOS issues. I recommend that you make sure that your power steering fluid is topped up as there can be pretty high steering loads in the uphill esses. If you change brake pads, do both the front and rear.

If one were limited $wise to the earlier Cayman, and intended to "play" with it, what can be done to address the oiling issue?

Thanks!

I agree about the pads, dont change them. Since it sounds like you street the car the majority of the time, dont let something you do a minimal amount of time, dont let those changes affect your street experience.
