Many ordering the new Cayman sight unseen?
Not a lot of recent action here. I was wondering how many are actually ordering a new Cayman sight unseen? I think it is a fine looking ride and will have to give it a whirl when it becomes available. I do lament the Porsche policy of holding it back power wise. 400hp in this car would be thrilling indeed.

I have one on order, it will be built March 26th! I got a chance to see one and sit in it at the Auto Show in Detroit in early January. I have owned four other Porsches and didn't feel I needed a test drive. There are quite a few "waiters" potsing on the Planet 9 forums which is a very active site for Boxster/Cayman people. There is quite a bit of buzz about the new Cayman, I suspect there will be a sales surge for this model over the next 24 months as there always is when upgraded models hit the showrooms.

It is a very sharp looking car and while I have no experience in it the reviews are universally great for it. Looks like it would fill a very nice niche with a tasty slice of automotive nirvana.

I'm so ready to pull the trigger on ordering a new Cayman S. Not having actually seen one is the main thing holding me back. I've been looking for a used one for a few months but between not finding a used one I like and the new one being such a big change, I'm ready to bite the bullet and go new.
I looked at new Boxters last week to see how the interior fits compared to the old model and that sealed it for me. At 6' 3" with abnormally long legs, the older Cayman was bit tight but the new model has even more leg room than my old 997!
My dealer's Cayman unveiling isn't until April 25th but they said they have one in the US port already so hopefully I can at least see one before ordering.
I'll be going for a pretty short list of options:
Platinum Silver Metalic
Sport Seats Plus
Convenience Package (Auto A/C and heated seats)
Deletion of Model Designation
PASM
Bose
Sirius XM

Thought about it; but Porsche isn't offering some of the options I desire the most yet--sport suspension (like in the Boxster), the sport bucket seats, and a rumored red/black two tone interior. Since my '08 CS took a dump recently, it looks like I'll need to hold onto that "investment" a bit longer before I should move into a new car.

Thanks for the posts and please do continue to consider offering your opinions. Sure is a nice looking auto BEGGING for 30-40% more giddyup though. The S model, though on the expensive side, is intriguing...

125shifter:
Thank's for taking the time to post the pix. I am looking forward to the opening event slated for late next month. If the ones they have arriving are spoken for I might have to wait till the vacation trip to try one out. Could leave on vacation in one car and come home in another, never know...
I realize I could swag it by trying a Boxster to get a general idea but prefer to do it full on Cayman S, PDK, Sport Design steering wheel to get the basic starting impression to determine it's "fit" in our life. Of course I do wish for 50-100 more hp but that is a long time off if ever unless one mods it. Ordering isn't a problem, but when things click, sooner is always preferable to later. At least for me.
Be safe and thanks again
