Default damper control shocks compatibility question

I'm from Korea, and my friend's Cayman S was in an accident. He requested I buy some parts for him from the US.

I bought a bunch of parts, but I think I bought the wrong shock.

His car does not have damper control, but I mistakenly thought it did, so bought a rear shock with damper control.

Does anyone know if we can install a damper control shock onto a car without damper control without any adverse effects? Or would it be better to buy a new one? If I were in the US, this wouldn't be an issue since I could just get an exchange, but with shipping costs, and taxes, etc, it's not easy to get a replacement.

Help!
