Default New Hankooks but concerned

I just put a set of Hankook V12's on the Cayman. They are mounted on 18" OZ Allegeritta's. I have noticed they seem to be vague and find myself drifting in the lane driving down the highway. The rear seems to be slow to follow the front when turning. I have a general feeling of uneasiness when driving the car. The original tires were PS2's and I felt very confident with them, even with them being at end of life.

Today I was driving home on a 50mph road following a pickup truck with a load of furniture. A chair flew out and headed straight for my windshield. With just muscle reaction I sharply turned left then corrected sharply right with cruise still on. Cruise cut out as PSM had to take over because the rear started to over-correct. Growling was heard from the tires during the time.

It all worked out but I just left feeling uneasy still.

The car has not had an alignment yet since the new tires were put on.

I have never owned a car where I could feel differences in tires so I am looking for opinions on these sensations.

Alignment.
Check tire pressures.
Takes about 500 miles to wear (scrub) off the mold release.
Make sure they are mounted correctly- directional tread.
PS2's are great tires. Hard to beat. So, your new tires may pale in a direct comparison.

Thanks for the reply.

Pressures were about 40-42 in the rear at the time.

I check the rotation marks and they are correct.

I am below 500 miles at this point. I think I am around 250 - guessing.

Compared to the PS2's or RE050A's, the V12's are a little less sharp by comparison. They will get better though after break in and after the tread wears down a little. Despite the fact that it may soften them a bit, I'd recommend a little lower pressures; maybe 38ish hot.

Thanks for the tip on the pressure settings. I will let some air out. Cold right now they are 33 front, 34 rear.

Best thing is to always put the same brand of tires that came with the car you have.

Though I can't resist the temptation to own some sexy set of Pirelli tires, love italy!

Yeah these will be a LOT less sharp and much lower tire on the food chain than a PS2.

Brilliant. Live and learn. I'd change up to the Super Sports if I thought I could sell these then.

I think I may go ahead and get the Pilot Super Sports. What would be the best size tires for 18x10 rears and 18x8.5 fronts?

No, these are OZ oz Alleggeritas. 1 inch wider in the rear and .5 inch wider in the front.
