Default New ring and pinion option potentially for Cayman S

Hey there everyone,

I was recently speaking with a member here about a alternative ring and pinion set for the Cayman S gearbox. I wanted to put feeler out to the group here, to get a feel for how many people would be interested in this option. I think that if we can put 5 - 10 people together on this we can lower the overall cost per piece for everyone.

We were thinking that a 13% drop would be quite good for the Cayman, which would give it about a 161 top end speed at 7500 rpm running 26 inch tires. What does everyone think, I would really appreciate your thoughts good or bad.

Thanks for checking this out.

Erik, that 13% would roughly be a 4.40 ratio (to the 3.88) which is a little much imho for a dual purpose car ie.
approx. 3800rpm @ 80mph on the highway.....
What about swapping in the '06-'08 4.16 Tiptronic R&P
Although it's only a 7.2% change (from 3.88), it might be an alternative for
some people who don't want as aggressive a change when combining a shorter tire or
still want to also have a cruise 6th.

Extanker,

Good news for you sir, a real LSD is on the way shortly. Should have the first one in house in a couple of months. I will keep everyone posted on it.
