You guys want a mid-engine platform that will outrun anything on the track and is proven durable? You have 2 choices:

(1) Porsche CGT, or for a step up, you can buy this.
(2) http://www.automobilemag.com/reviews...r_3/index.html

Have fun.

Doug,

The Cayman is a fine track car as is. This thread is for the 'Be all you can be" folks.

Some people thought that another 100 HP or so is what it takes for the Cayman to reach its ultimate potential as a top-line tract car. This thread, amongst many others, simply points out that once you breached certain performance barriers, the rest of the Cayman body-parts prove unfit for the task.

This is the Cayman that was pulled from the VLN last year. Apparently Porsche were not tooo happy with Alzen's turn of speed. An insider told me that they were more or less forced to go back to the 911 based car for the last race of the season last year.

In case the picture goes away this is the link to it.

hammerwerfer- as my instructor who co-drove the M-speed racing cayman RS (different car but same thing basically) said-

"Porsche was such bitches to us that we put a ferrari sticker on the lid just to **** them off."

It really sucks, Porsche has gone to political. They should be building the best cars they can, not just 911's.

Agreed. This is counter to progress...which is counter to what Porsche truly is (or at least was). That's what is so disappointing to me.

Having said that...I still love 'em.

well remember for private teams to build something like that makes porsche look like they're not trying to win...and porsche is all about winning.

Yeah, I'd have to say Porsche is all about marketing the 911...

Just like the good old days when they murdered the 914/6.

And not so long ago when they killed off the 968 turbo...

Edit: Oh, I see they're linking back to the same article previously mentioned.

C.J.

That is one awesome clip. And looks like it was a public day as well. Lots of 'pedastrian' drivers on the Ring that day.

Thanks for sharing.
