Default Sebring PBOC Last Weekend in Cayman S

Had a ball driving the Cayman at Sebring. The lap times were in the 2:35 range. The Cermic brakes are great. The car feels like it stops almost as good as our 05 GT3 Cup. We had a 05 Boxster S with steel brakes and it did no stop near as good. The breaks help the confidence. The Cayman did not do anything unexpected and is much more predictable than the 911's I have driven. Great car on the track and the street.

What are normally good times for that track? What times are you turning in your gt3? Thanks.

PCA website shows 2:10 for a fast time for 05 GT3 Cup
Couldn't find any boxsters, but an E class 944 turbo will be around 2:30, F around 2:32-35

Tell me about it. I hate street tires with a passion.

My son raced the 05 GT3 Cup Car and his times were in the 1:17s. There were several 996 and 997 Cup Cars and the fastest was around 1:15. We have seen Wolf Henzler and some of the other pros turn 2:10s However, we wonder about the motors they may be running. This is usually at the PCA race at Sebring right after Daytona. I have been told that some of the GT3 Street cars are running around 2:30. 2:35 for a stock Cayman and not pushing it is not bad and can be better.

PHP Code:

Orbit Racing checked the alilgment and felt the stock set up was fine for what we would be doing. I do not know what stock was. However, the car felt great. We did not feel that there was a great deal of lean the car seems to be very stiff in stock trim with PASM.

PHP Code:
PASM or standard suspension
The Car has PASM. Seems to work pretty good. Car feel stiff when all buttons are pushed. We plan on lowering the car and a few minor changes. It's a street car also so we will not go to rdical.

I am having trouble uploading photos. I'm still a rookey. I will keep trying.

Thanks!

H&R lists non-PASM lowering springs on their site. Don't know if they actually exist.

I'm sure there will be a variety of coilovers from H&R and Bilstein (and others) for the non-PASM cars (including 987 and 997). It's only difficult to fit coilovers to the PASM cars, due to all the electronics being integrated. I'd consider adjustable camber plates also, as someone recently had a "track" alignment attempted on their 987 and they could only achieve -.5 degrees of camber in front...

I am relying on Orbit Racing to lower the car and I will let you know what they do. I am not sure when it will get done.

my cayman has non pasm.
still at my mechanic's. but i got msg from him, we got 1.3 deg neg camber up front. more on back. everything is stock, ride ht obviously. dont know what he did to it. but 1.3 with street tires, i think i'll be fine.

if HR, bilstein or orbit figure out what to do to put coil overs on, let's keep each other posted. i spoke with lex at moton. nothing yet.
